to think that when adults are walking along holding a small childs hand, that they should slow down a bit.

This really bothers me.
I see it all the time, the adult walking at normal pace and the little dot almost running along side them.Little legs going 10 to the dozen.

why dont people slow down a bit, i think that it is cruel.

what if it was the adult bieng dragged along twice as fast as thier legs can go? Not pleasant.

Now if there is a cake shop selling the last cake, i would make an exception and would of course be literally running with a little dot in toe, that is different.

I don't post or read on here a huge amount, but compared with other threads this has not been in the slightest bit nasty.

But crikey, op, have you never been in a rush? dd (2 and a bit) regularly needs a wee just as I am trying to leave the house to pick up ds1 and ds2 from school. I can't force her to wee, wash hands, sort out her pants etc quickly (because that would be 'cruel', or actually just counter-productive because she's very independent). So we have to whizz along to get the boys, or they would be left stranded with their teacher in the playground feeling sad and neglected and unloved.

Which is crueler? I think neither, so sometimes I'm late for the boys, and sometimes dd has to walk faster than she would want. Tough.

Not trying to be mean, but I think you might be a little too sensitive for AIBU. This is nothing, seriously, no one even swore at you!

Nancy66 · 06/06/2009 21:22

she's not being oversensitive - she was perfectly civilised and got a whole load of: oh get over it, get a life, come back when you've really got something to worry about attitude.

mrshippy · 06/06/2009 21:26

I'm terrible for this. I find it really hard to walk slowly though and I'm generally always late. Must make more effort though because it can't be nice. Quite often I walk then stop and walk and stop because my 4 year old walks really slowly sometimes. Always keep an eye on him though.

JoPie · 06/06/2009 21:37

Nancy, thats what you get on AIBU. If you want perfectly civilised try on of the other 30 topics, AIBU is never very civilised!

dorisbonkers · 06/06/2009 23:22

Maybe they were walking off the turkey twizzlers?

katiestar · 07/06/2009 11:51

What's wrong with giving 'em a bit of exercise.making kids run is cruel ?
A toddler would stop walking and swing on parents arm if they can't/won't keep up

JoPie · 07/06/2009 13:31

Mine would just throw himself to the ground and stay there! In fact I don 't know many toddlers you could force to trot alongside you if they didn't want to, stubborn little things on the whole, aren't they?

wotulookinat · 07/06/2009 13:36

I agree with you, Sunburntats.
But I am an incredibly slooooow walker so it's not a problem for my son to keep up
