I think you'll find that yellow has a special significance for MorningPaper ...

jemart · 03/06/2009 22:46

Red and black jelly babies are the best! green and yellow are bleugh!
Yorkie bars were my favourite as a young child - have now graduated to Galaxy, but most any chocolate will do really Never really found the Yorkie ads offensive, my Daddy drove a lorry at the time, possibly why I liked them so much.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 03/06/2009 22:54

I had a pack of mini buttons once, containing three, yes, three buttons.

I wrote to cadbury and they sent me a fulsome apology and a £10 voucher.

My best friend and I ran the tuck shop at school for a while. We had named all the different colours of Jelly Babies, and would only sell them to people who asked for them by name. (yes, we were weird). Black ones were called Robert after the boy I was obsessed with quite liked. Green ones were the worst ones and were called after soemeone we didn't fancy (can't remember the name after so many a few years).

LightShinesInTheDarkness · 03/06/2009 23:06

lambanana - did you know you can buy just the black ones from Sports Mixture? here

gerontius · 03/06/2009 23:16

With those packs of mini jaffa cakes with six in a pack you used to sometimes get seven. Sadly no more.
Even better than Shiney's all-chocolate KitKat, I once had an all-chocolate KitKat chunky.

hatwoman · 03/06/2009 23:19

do you know what would be the worst thing about this? it would completely throw my eating methods into total chaos. I take turns when eating coloured sweets - from least favourite to favourite. and then - (this is where it gets complicated) because there are never the same amount of I have to take a decision, at some point, to stop eating my favourite two, so that they are what I end up with at the very end. I would be paralysed by the yellow packet. I just wouldn;t know what to do with the red one.

Baisey · 04/06/2009 09:54

That is awful. I would of cried, but then again my pregnancy hormones havent calmed down yet!
I havent had an all chocolate kitkat since I was very young, to me its like the chocolate equivelent of winning the lottery!
gerontius your kitkat chunky would of been you winning the chocolate lotto on a triple rollover!! Its so not fair

gerontius · 04/06/2009 12:22

So what form exactly is this chocolate lotto going to take? I'm excited just thinking about it....

Flower3545 · 04/06/2009 12:32

Love the email, don't forget who your friends are when they send you gazillions of jelly babies will you

Don't send me green ones though, for some strange reason they make my lips itch

BitOfFun · 04/06/2009 12:45

BIWI

Amiable · 04/06/2009 13:08

so sorry to hear about this traumatic experience, ABS, but glad you have been able to rise above it!!

SViolet, Love the fact that you named all the jelly babies, but didn't it feel like cannibalism to then eat them? i'm not sure I could do eat a Robert...

Hatwoman, it sounds like you and I were separated at birth I have to open the packet fully, then sort out all the full sets, then eat all the "spare" ones first, then eat the sets in the right order - yellow orange/green (these are actually interchangeable, depending on my mood) pink, red then black. I also get very upset if someone takes a sweet from a full set - the spares are for sharing!! (or should that be ?!)

sleepychunky · 04/06/2009 13:32

Did you know that according to research, those people who have given birth are more likely to bite the heads off jelly babies, whereas those who haven't will either eat them whole or start with the other extremeties? how many of us MNers have always bitten the heads off first, pre- or post-kids?

sockmonkey · 04/06/2009 13:43

I always bite the heads of first... it's the most humane way to dispatch them.
I can't bring myself to eat the green ones, they look like they are picking thier nose.
yuck

Pan · 04/06/2009 13:56

ask for boy jelly babies. You get a little bit more jelly on those than the girl ones.....

lollipopz · 04/06/2009 15:17

A few years ago our local Tesco was selling jelly atrics, they were wee ones with curly hair and glasses, think it was an anniversary special. Anyway i couldn't eat them they were too cute, prob still have them somewhere lol

lambanana · 04/06/2009 19:36

Thank you lightshinesinthedarkness.

Wow I like the look of just liquorice but I enjoy them more when they are supplemented by the other sports mixture flavours.

I suppose I could buy a stash then throw them into my bag firstly ensuring that all the blackcurrants are binned!
