What the heck is Sports Mixture?

And we still don't know what the lone colour was.

When I was 18 a kid, I would bite the jelly babies heads off so they didn't feel the pain of me eating the rest of their bodies.

That lots given me a good laugh - no idea anyone would bother replying too this- didn't realise jelly babies was such a lively topic. Unfortunately all the little buggers have been eaten by me so I can;t send pack back but will def right to cadburys and see what I can wangle.

for those of you dying to know what the jelly-baby-ethnic-minority was in the pack..,.he/she was a red one.

Am going to eat choc ice cream now to recover from the shock.

Sports Mixture is made up of 5 fruit flavours of hard gums shaped like sports equipment. They are delicious.

I stretch jelly babies and then work from the toes up, so I can hear them scream.

I can't believe that I've never seen Sports Mixture.

I will have to start scouring the sweetie shop shelves more.

Were you disappointed by the red one?!

Sports mixture is fab - hard jelly sweets in the shape of various bats and other sports related items. The black one used to be a liquorice flavour, and it was delish, but then they changed it to blackcurrent. Pah.

my fav fruit gums are the green ones, I am always bloody furious to find a mere 2, somtimes at a push 3 in my packet.

so my OH went out and bought enough packets to put together an entire tube of green ones for me - he sure knows the way to my heart

You can buy Kit Kats made entirely of chocolate. They're called Yorkies!

NB: Proper order is pink, red, orange, green. Yellow and black ones are only sprog fodder as far as I'm concerned.

Fruit pastilles you can get massive of packets of just the red and black ones at the service station near where i live...

Bet you all know that though...

No the correct order for Jelly babies is yellow, orange, green, pink, red and finally black.

You wash your mouth out with soap, mrsrawlinson. Pink indeed - pah!

Lol at sprog fodder.

Yorkies are not chocolate - they are made of a horrible grainy brown substance and injected with essence of grit. Horrible things. And hideous, sexist advertising to boot.

Oh I am craving sports mixture now - they are the king of sweets.

Paolosgirl - you can still get the proper bags with the liquorice ones from that retro sweets website. I think you have to buy them by the ton though!

For anyone with a very long attention span please find below the email I have just sent to Cadbury's customer relations.

"For the attention of the Chief Jelly Baby:
Let me paint you a picture.....
The kids were tucked up in bed, husband was out, Desperate Housewives was on the Sky Plus and I settled down to a yummy bag of Jelly Babies. Imagine my horror when I opened the bag and found that all but one of the Jelly Babies were yellow!!! Now I'm not a Jelly-Baby-extremist but variety is the spice of life. Once I had recovered from the trauma of the disappointing packet I discussed my problem on-line. Someone suggested I send you the pack- but unfortunately, even though the jelly babies were yellow, I have still eaten them all:-). Someone else suggested that the monotony of yellow may be a breach of my Human Rights - I suspect the EU have made provision for this somewhere. But that got me thinking about the rights of the sole red Jelly Baby in the packet- how did he/she feel travelling in the dark packet alone in a sea of yellow comrades? Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket - surely the odds of winning will be just as good as the chances of my Jelly Baby disaster.
I am off to cheer myself up with some chocolate ice cream. This will help but discovering a packet of Jelly Babies among the post would be ace.
Thanks for listening - I feel much better.
Kind regards, Jelly Baby fan"
