to think that women over, say, 25 should not wear those sunglasses with the white/pink/lilac frames?

A couple of mums at school were wearing white framed sunglasses at pick up yesterday. They are very attractive and stylish women but these sunglasses looked stoopid, as if they were trying too hard to be cool. Here's an example

AIBU to think that these sunglasses belong on very young women not yummy mummies doing the school pick up?

It's all about attitude. Peronally, I don't care whether my white sunnies make me look too try-hard or whatever, I think I rock them.
And I'm 33!

southeastastra · 03/06/2009 20:45

only a few of us bitched ladyaga

we have the right to bitch!

BecauseImWorthIt · 03/06/2009 20:46

Sorry - I may be anti age discrimination, but crocs are not allowed on OldGimmersNet.

Eve4Walle · 03/06/2009 20:47

Do you have to be young to get away with Crocs too then?

I do have a pair....for gardening!

BecauseImWorthIt · 03/06/2009 20:56

No - nothing to do with age at all. I just hate them!

mumeeee · 03/06/2009 23:48

YABU.

Monty100 · 04/06/2009 00:03

YABU grow up! Get with it.

messageinabottle · 04/06/2009 00:08

yabu

sunglasses don't come with age classifications!

plastic frames PG
raybans

Spidermama · 04/06/2009 00:10

I think these glasses look risible on everyone who wears them and I congratulate you susie for drawing attention to this.

messageinabottle · 04/06/2009 00:12

may look risible but still don't come with age classifications

EyeballshasBackBoobs · 04/06/2009 00:21

Does anyone else read risible as wisible?

And I wear red sunglasses...

musicposy · 04/06/2009 00:42

I have pink ones, they were 2 quid in Primark and I love them!

I'm 42 but what's that got to do with it? They're fun and they make me happy, who cares what anyone else thinks!

karala · 04/06/2009 06:57

since when did over 25 equate to 'a certain age' ?

and what is 'a certain age' while we're about it?

suspects that OP thinks that people of my age should stick to lorgnettes

rimmer08 · 04/06/2009 07:24

i have a pair of black wayfarers, would DEFO wear white ones and im 30. so yes YABU.

BecauseImWorthIt · 04/06/2009 08:27

karala - come and join me on OldGimmersNet!

Plenty of lorgnettes there. Oh, and I do a nice line in crimplene day dresses in a lovely lilac floral print....

karala · 04/06/2009 08:33

Because I'm Worth It - I just hope those day dresses aren't too short because you know that only really young people under a certain age can do the short thing. Old Gimmers Net - where the old dears prowl!

Baisey · 04/06/2009 08:40

So what exactly are the over 25's supposed to wear? Bugger im 25 does this mean im supposed to go into fashion limbo when I hit 26??

Portofino · 04/06/2009 08:42

I'm 40 and have a pair of lovely D&G sunglasses. I noticed in OK Magazine that Katie Price has the SAME ones - so I am obviously uber-stylish, moi!

BonsoirAnna · 04/06/2009 08:43

I think white framed sunglasses are very vulgar - in the same league as white high heels! Not nice on anyone, IMO - under or over 25!

oliverboliverbutt · 04/06/2009 08:45

oh yeas, because women over the age of 25 should just give up really.

karala · 04/06/2009 08:50

I think BonsoirAnna has made a very good point here, but I'm still hopping mad about this certain age business and that I should be in the fashion wasteland from now on. And according to the OP should have been for the last 20 plus years.

Was I so stupid when I was under 25?

cocolepew · 04/06/2009 08:51

Uber stylish and Katie Price in the same sentence don't really go.

I'm sure you look divine though, portofino ]

MrsMattie · 04/06/2009 08:54

I like them. Don't suit me, but they can work on women on of any age. The other day I saw a fabulously stylish woman in her late 40s/early 50s wearing the cream-framed ones.

I wear those enormous black-out Prada ones and I am an 'old gimmer' of 32 yrs . Fuck it. I like 'em.

Portofino · 04/06/2009 10:06

Bien sur coco!

BecauseImWorthIt · 04/06/2009 10:58

Oh, and Doris and Flo will be round later with their mobile hairdressing van.

Blue rinse anyone?
