to be fed up of this bloody weather?

It's boiling hot.

I have red hair and pale skin and I really dislike the feeling of hot weather.

I have bad hayfever.

This weather pisses me off so much - if it's cold you can put another jumper on, or turn the heating up, but there is NO ESCAPE from the heat.

I feel woozy and heavy-legged. My eyes are either stinging from sun cream or itching with hayfever. I look shit in summer clothes and I can't wear heels. My ankles and feet are swollen and I'm not even pregnant.

And yet because I have a DD I have to get out and DO stuff which makes me feel worse, rather than being at home with the curtains closed, which is what I really want to do. And it's not fair to DD who is a real outdoor girl and loves it.

The thought of a long summer of this is making me feel very depressed.

I know I'm being a bit of a drama queen, and am probably being a bit unreasonable, but the fetishisation of the hot weather in this country pisses me off (and I needed a rant).

I have freckles, really fair skin and for most of the year look sick (usually in the summer I progress to off white). I am now 40 +2 d's pregnant and feeling a bit uncomfortable.

Usually I hate the warm weather but for once in my life I have actually managed to get a tan - I asked my middie about this and she said that when pregnant skin produces more melanin (think that is how it is spelt). I have never looked so healthy in my life.

A bit of discomfort vs looking good? At the oment I am enjoying looking good and the sunshine.

"people make such a fuss about nothing"

Blimey i never thought a thread about weather would make me so cross!

LyraSilvertongue · 04/06/2009 18:26

Why are you angry?

MrsMattie · 04/06/2009 18:28

Urrr, there are about 10 hot days out of 365 in this country. Book a summer holiday to the North Pole if you can't take a wee bit of sunshine

hazeyjane · 04/06/2009 18:50

I suppose I'm angry, because if someone moans about it being cold or rainy, then, i just think it's a shame (especially if they are living in England), if someone tells me they have SAD, and feel depressed/ill when it is Winter, I try to empathise, and if someone gets terrible asthma or flu everytime the weather turns bad then I think that must be awful.

Comments like 'people make such a fuss about nothing' seems a little callous, when people have said they feel ill, lack energy, feel miserable etc in the heat.

Also everyone is different, if you are pale and red haired and yet love the sun, it doesn't follow that everyone else will.

LyraSilvertongue · 04/06/2009 18:55

But the heat lasts five minutes and the cold is with us the rest of the year.

reach4sky · 04/06/2009 19:26

And I'm sorry but 26C is just really not very hot.

reach4sky · 04/06/2009 19:27

I would find it equally odd if someone complained about the cold when it was say 9C.

FairLadyRantALot · 04/06/2009 19:29

since yestterday it has considerably cooled down, and whilst there was a bit sun today, it wasn't really warm

hazeyjane · 04/06/2009 19:40

But a headache only lasts a short time, it still hurts, whilst it's happening!

I hear lots of people saying how cold it is when it doesn't feel that cold to me.

Maybe it is possible that 26 degrees makes some people feel too hot and other people, not
