I'm so upset for her. I hope this experience can still change her life for the better.

grisly wannabes hitting every note on scale yep that is upsetting

happily never watched BGT but cannot avoid media saturation and hype either

i thought susan was peter kay in drag like his
geraldine incantation

no doubt schmaltzy tv and media progs to follow

Bonneville · 30/05/2009 22:26

Hasnt it happened in the past that in these shows the winners usually sink into oblivion quite quickly while those who come second do better generally?

scottishmummy · 30/05/2009 22:27

haha Michelle mcmanus, davie sneddon where are they now

FabulousBakerGirl · 30/05/2009 22:31

angrypixie · 30/05/2009 22:41

YABU to put a spoiler in thread title

FabulousBakerGirl · 30/05/2009 22:43

FabulousBakerGirl THEY WOULD HAVE TO DELETE All the others as well(sorry abot caps)

FabulousBakerGirl · 30/05/2009 22:46

They wouldn't. Just this one as it is in the title and i know of at least one poster who us watching it tmw.

angrypixie · 30/05/2009 22:49

I was going to watch it when I'd finished working but seems pointless now!

It is rude to put a spoiler in the title.

angrypixie · 30/05/2009 22:50

Sorry not rude - too strong, it is only TV

Thoughtless perhaps?

Tambajam · 31/05/2009 07:17

You are kidding?
It was blatantly obvious I thought that she didn't want to win. Before the result was announced she was pale and shuddering. Afterwards she blossomed. Visibly relaxed, smiled, happy body language, joking, able to speak. She seemed so so relieved.

bluejeans · 31/05/2009 07:34

YABU to be so upset

YANBU to put a spoiler in the thread title IMO - anyone who hasn't watched it yet should avoid all internet chat rooms as well as tv, nextdoor neighbours etc as everyone talking about it!

bigchris · 31/05/2009 08:02

I was so glad she didnt win
she has no charisma, no likeabilty factor
tge best act won although I secretly wanted stavros to win

MaryHuff · 31/05/2009 09:03

YABU. She's on track to make £6-8 million in the coming year, despite not winning.

Even Faryl Smith who didn't come in the top 2 last year got a £2.3 million recording contract from Simon Cowell.

Much better than the £100k that the winner is guaranteed. I can't see Diversity making millions, They are good, but not marketable in the same way.

Oh, and I wanted Stavros to win too

juneybean · 31/05/2009 10:47

MaryHuff me too hahaha I was sad they didn't make top three!!

BBisfinallyPG · 31/05/2009 10:55

YABU xfactor is for singers, and shes had so much exposure she'l be raking it in anyway...look at escala and faryl... i think getting so upsetr over something, whilst showing you are sweet enough to care, is a bit worrying... (unless you are prgnant as i have been known to cry at absolutely anything lately..not BGT tho)

brimfull · 31/05/2009 10:59

lol at hullygully and nudie calendar

scarletlilybug · 31/05/2009 10:59

I only feel sorry for SB in so far as the hype around her probably convinced her she was going to win (not her fault). I agree with the posters who said she looked relieved not to have won. And I'm sure she'll do okay out of this in the long run.

Stavros were likeable, but.... not especially talented, not that funny. It was a joke which was already wearing thin and getting abit stale, I thought.

The best act won.

slayerette · 31/05/2009 11:07

I am so relieved that she didn't win. Diversity were by far the most talented act in that final and DH and I were convinced that for that reason alone, they wouldn't win

Susan Boyle was quite good but not the best singer I've ever heard and she doesn't seem to have a great range in terms of the material she can sing - once she's done an album of musical covers, what then? Can you really see her managing a tour, for example?

It annoyed me how much all the hype around the contrast between her appearance and her voice completely masked the fact that she's not a world-class singer. She couldn't even hold the tune in the semi-final, whereas Diversity were slick, polished and professional.

AliGrylls · 31/05/2009 11:22

YABU - she was not that great a singer to be honest. It is only because she was the ugly duckling she got so much support from the public. Sorry to be harsh.

Molesworth · 31/05/2009 13:04

I think she probably did win the public vote but the producers fixed the result for fear that SuBo would be a loose cannon in front of the queen!

Delighted to see Diversity win though

mears · 31/05/2009 13:05

She looked totally relieved not to have won I would say.
