Beaver of the week - WHEN WHEN WHEN?!?!?!?

carocaro · 21/05/2009 10:54

DS1 is 7 and has been going to Beavers for over a year and has never had Beaver of The Week!

Why does this bother me? It bother DS1 as he is always well behaved and contributes and is caring, not my words but the Beaver Leaders!

Well, the boys who act up and have their parents spoken to about it, then behave well the next week and get the Beaver of the Week.

If it were me, I would expect at least a few weeks of good behaviour before getting it!

Pandering to this sort of behaviour really pees me off.

And as others leave for various reasons and have not had it, they get it.

So shall I tell my son to be NAUGHTY and DISRUPTIVE and RUDE one week and an angel the next and ET VOILA he will be Beaver of the Week?!?!?!

This sort of stuff matters when you are 7!

Give hime the f'ing Beaver of the Week before Beavers finishes for Summer or else!

AIBU?

WHen I can, I am going to be a Beavers leader and stop this once on for all!

HA HA HA!

YABU obviously

And perhaps a tad too obsessive?

If it is bothering your DS, he needs to speak to the leader about it.

I didn't even know they did Beaver of the Week, or maybe DS's colony don't do it I wouldn't rally care either way.

You should talk to the leaders about it. I think if my consistently well behaved child were being passed over in favour of the usual demons who just happen to manage to keep it together for one week, I'd be a bit peeved too. You might want to point out to them that this is upsetting your son?

Listen you beaver mockers, put down your cups of tea so that you don't spit it into your keyboards and then I'll tell you what the Boss Beaver is called.

cornflakemum · 21/05/2009 11:07

DS2 has it this week

But it was apparently for 'being brave, and not crying too much when another child kicked him'

PuppyMonkey · 21/05/2009 11:07

When I worked as a trainee news reporter, we had a competition each week to see who could get the word "beaver" legitimately into an article. It was really difficult.

Unfortunately writing about Beaver Scouts didn't count.

cornflakemum · 21/05/2009 11:08

Our boss is called Otter - what's yours called?

cestlavie · 21/05/2009 11:09

Interestingly, in Lithuania, the national dish is beaver. Makes ordering in restaurants somewhat amusing...

whoisasking · 21/05/2009 11:11

All hail Brown Beaver

MillyR · 21/05/2009 11:11

I didn't realise taking the beaver home was a reward. I thought they just took turns at having it.

I have the only girl Beaver in my parish.

cornflakemum · 21/05/2009 11:12

Puppy - LOL - reminds me that when I was a junior manager trainee at a big company we used to have a VERY boring meeting for 3 hours every fortnight, and we used to see who could get the most fish-related words into the discussion, so...

"that's a bit of a red-herring"
"not sure, I'll have to mullet over"
"there's a shoal load of things which need to be done first"

I remember the titilation when the Big Boss 'scored' a point without even realising it.. "We'll have to fillet up to the bream of the tub..."

SoupDragon · 21/05/2009 11:14

"I have the only girl Beaver in my parish. "

oldspotraver · 21/05/2009 11:17

I think the next time you are told your son is well behaved etc I would be tempted to say "but not good enough for B.O T W ?" with an accent on the question. Maybe Top Beaver doesnt realise they are doing it and rewarding those who good behaviour isn't the norm

Nice beaver, harley.

KingRolo · 21/05/2009 11:30

Absolutely not joking - there used to be a ride at Lightwater Valley Theme Park called...

The Beaver Rapids.
