Beaver of the week - WHEN WHEN WHEN?!?!?!?

carocaro · 21/05/2009 10:54

DS1 is 7 and has been going to Beavers for over a year and has never had Beaver of The Week!

Why does this bother me? It bother DS1 as he is always well behaved and contributes and is caring, not my words but the Beaver Leaders!

Well, the boys who act up and have their parents spoken to about it, then behave well the next week and get the Beaver of the Week.

If it were me, I would expect at least a few weeks of good behaviour before getting it!

Pandering to this sort of behaviour really pees me off.

And as others leave for various reasons and have not had it, they get it.

So shall I tell my son to be NAUGHTY and DISRUPTIVE and RUDE one week and an angel the next and ET VOILA he will be Beaver of the Week?!?!?!

This sort of stuff matters when you are 7!

Give hime the f'ing Beaver of the Week before Beavers finishes for Summer or else!

AIBU?

WHen I can, I am going to be a Beavers leader and stop this once on for all!

HA HA HA!

My DD got beaver of the month once.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 21/05/2009 11:31

Debenhams used to sell a shade of tights called Beaver. I always used to wear Beaver tights.

CherryChoc · 21/05/2009 11:31

Why don't you just explain this to the Beaver Leaders? Surely they will understand about being 7 and it mattering, and make sure he is Beaver of the Week some time soon. Seems a bit odd to me that they do this actually - especially if they aren't making sure each boy gets a regular turn to be BotW. 7 is still an age where you rig party games, isn't it?

seeker · 21/05/2009 11:33

Seriously, thought, what on EARTH were the thought processes that led to Beaver Scouts?

My dp always suggests that Weasels would be more appropriate!

stealthsquiggle · 21/05/2009 11:34

we DS got to house the flipping cuddly beaver 3 weeks in a row when he first joined, but they seem to have given up on it completely now.

Go on, seeker, tell....

(BTW - OP - IIWY I would have a quiet word with the leader - it's a miracle they are even sane at the end of a session, they probably don't realise your DS has never been beaver of the week!)

carocaro · 21/05/2009 11:36

For goodness sake, I go off to finish the gloss painting and my thread has reached gutter level.

I am disappointed with your dirty minds.

However, I do agree that the title was misleading. Perhaps my sub-concious was at work, due to my lack of sex life at present.

A cry for help, when will I be Beaver of the week is what I really wanted to know!

DD got it her second week there. I couldn't actually tell anyone as I couldn't keep a straight face when saying my DD had won Beaver of the week

PuppyMonkey · 21/05/2009 11:56

PMSL at cuddly beaver.

SoupDragon · 21/05/2009 12:09

"My DD got beaver of the month once"

There will come a time when you are not quite so proud of that...

KingRolo · 21/05/2009 17:01

Beaver tights

Lillabet · 21/05/2009 17:16

YANBU, they should be rewarding your child's consistent good behaviour not pandering to those who can't maintain good behaviour for more than a week at a time!!

I am now going to return to the dirty minded corner and snigger with the rest - especially as your AIBU post was displayed above this in the "Last 15 minutes" list!!

pointydog · 21/05/2009 17:21

lol @ title

karala · 21/05/2009 17:27

so relieved not to be the only person who misunderstood the thread title

karala · 21/05/2009 17:29

In fact, I rather wondered if this had been posted here wrongly and was in fact the next MN competition. We've just had Mum of the Year, after all.

TsarChasm · 21/05/2009 17:35

You go in there and announce 'My Beaver is the best one here. Beaver of the bloody century in fact..now give us the badge and no-one gets hurt'

BeaverOfTheWeek · 21/05/2009 17:43

I can't believe this name hasn't been taken....

I'm liking it... it has a certain Mumsnetiness about it....

2shoes · 21/05/2009 17:43

YANBU

KingRolo · 21/05/2009 18:43

Like it, Beaver.

FrannyandZooey · 21/05/2009 18:45

oh fnarrrr

MrsWeasley · 21/05/2009 18:49

My DS1 had the same thing but at school with a lunch time certificate, In the end I actually asked why he hadn't been given one and they said that as he was always good he would have been overlooked. The certificates were given to those whose behaviour had improved!

ChippyMinton · 21/05/2009 19:24

Me and my beaver are off to camp this weekend

actually I have two beavers, but that didn't sound quite as funny...

chegirl · 21/05/2009 21:59

My friend does the whole beaver thingy. She is always posting about it on her facebook status.

Had a great beaver session tonight

Off to play with my beavers now

Beavering really wore me out

Up all night making scarves for my beavers

etc etc

It always sounds so rude
