The freshly stuffed type you buy from M&S? We had an agreement that all meals would be freshly cooked. I take ages making each meal for him from scratch and have never given him pre-prepared or convenience food and bit annoyed she has.

OP posts:
Overmydeadbody · 16/05/2009 14:25

onestop I make tomato sauce in huge batches, so probably works out to a pinch of sugar per two person portion size

Chemicals are not all bad either, and don't automatically mean something harmful. All food can be broken down into simple chemicals, after all. Whether our body gets the citric acid from an orange or from an added ingredient in passata won't make an iota of difference to it.

Don't let a chemical sounding name on an ingredient list immediately put you off. Find out what it is before passing judgement. Take poor old ascorbic acid as an example.

EarlyAdopter · 16/05/2009 14:26

its just typical internetty" help someone on the internet disagrees with me"

oldspotraver · 16/05/2009 14:28

Erm if you dont want your PFB to have 'ready made crap' then why was it in your farkin fridge

EarlyAdopter · 16/05/2009 14:29

LOl

Overmydeadbody · 16/05/2009 14:29

It was in the fridge? I missed that bit.

In that case, I have no sympathy for the OP. Her own silly fault. Her poor child is ruined now. Ruined.

MollieO · 16/05/2009 14:30

PM OP posted in the thread that CM is in fact her nanny so I assume that OP bought the pasta and nanny fed it to dc. I assume OP has now got rid of everything in her fridge that could be considered processed - milk, butter, cheese, orange juice etc.

NAIL HEAD!!!

I think it was her necking the Sauv blanc that killed it

piscesmoon · 16/05/2009 14:33

I thought it was at the CMs. If it was in OP fridge then it was her own fault! Why was it in the fridge?
I do dislike the hypocrisy of people keeping their DC to a diet that they don't eat themselves. If you are against ready bought meals then as a family you shouldn't be eating them. OP should be eating a healthy diet too.

Overmydeadbody · 16/05/2009 14:36

Wot?? You lookin at me?

matildax · 16/05/2009 14:41

lmao @ this thread!!

op, you are really taking things to the extreme here. take advice from some of these lovely ladies and chill out for gods sake.

what the hell are you going be like when your son starts school, and goes to birthday parties?!

i predict a riot!!!!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/05/2009 14:42

eveforwall- only fantastic brillaint experienced ones earn that much

i obv come under that catorgrey - and so did snippets nanny - though obv she isnt now

yes i make my own tomarto sauce - use tins toms or chop toms if got in fridge, add garlic, onion, grated carrot, simmer for 30mins and then puree - its fab!!!!

sometimes i add a dash of red wine as well and give it to the children

though have also used

maybe op if she isnt a troll didnt buy the pasta and the nanny went to M&S and BROUGHT it using the kitty

if it is in the fridge then i will use it - an ex mb yelled at me for giving my charges some nuggets

She has admitted it was her nanny not CM and the nanny dixdnt buy the 'crap'.. so I just assumed the crapfairies-- OP bought it

SHINEY/MILLIE.. you have made something click. We have had noisy crows move into our trees the last two years and I have noticed, but not found out where they live, chickens and a friggin noisy cockerel. I really really want somone to shoot the crows

oldspotraver · 16/05/2009 14:45

oops shouls read what I attempt to type.. the chicks are living I presume in someones back yard. They are not shaking up with the crows

oldspotraver · 16/05/2009 14:47

'shacking'up even

piscesmoon · 16/05/2009 14:56

I think you should be eating as a family, the same food. Obviously there are some things not suitable for a DC and there are times that you don't stick to it. However I don't think it is anything to get upset about. I am against people who eat chocolate biscuits and drink coke on a day to day basis, while their DC gets water and rice cakes-it is setting up problems for the future IMO.
In case of OP it doesn't hurt as an occasional thing and it is too PFB to worry about.

Habbibu · 16/05/2009 15:05

Onestone - sorry, I was mostly talking about pasta like tortellini, which my Italian friends always buy, rather than make. But it was a rather a sweeping generalisation!

DottedPyjamas · 16/05/2009 15:12

I think YANBU to be annoyed that your CM/nanny went against your wishes if it has been clearly agreed by her. Ultimately, it is a paid job and she cannot go against your wishes even if 99% of other mums are alright with it.

HOWEVER, I wouldn't make a fuss of it if it was a one-off. It's not really going to kill your ds to have one M&S meal.

Fwiw, I don't eat M&S (or other) meals and wouldn't give it to my family and have never had baked beans in my life. My kids refuse to eat crisps and junk food at birthday parties and go for the blocks of cheese or grapes.

coolma · 16/05/2009 15:23

ooh, I think she should give him those 2p sausages from asda, they're ever so yummy......and freshly prepared in the asda fac'try I 'sect

gardeningmum05 · 16/05/2009 15:36

whats wrong with baked beans once a week? i give my kids jacket potato, cheese and beans, does that constitute child creaulty
lifes too short to spend it in a kitchen, rather be reading them a book to be honest, YABU

BottySpottom · 16/05/2009 16:21

'Are you all that lazy?'

Yes

ellingwoman · 16/05/2009 16:24

You're right coolma. If op's nanny goes and buys 2p sausages and cooks them is that 'better' in the op's eyes (being freshly cooked and all that) than the reheated M & S filled pasta?

I'd prefer the pasta myself.

BottySpottom · 16/05/2009 16:29

If you work 55 hours a week, does your son really want to watch your back whilst you prepare fresh food for him? Don't forget his emotional needs as well as his physical.

Lulumama · 16/05/2009 16:32

i make my own baked beans with organic haricot beans, so neeeeeerrrr!
