can't explain it but always hope it's the ninky nonk coming through the hedge and not that hideoues farty floaty thing

I want to be a Tombliboo - they look so cosy snuggled up together in their little sleeping bags at the end.

silkcushion · 22/04/2009 23:16

Fossa - now you mention the tombliboos I have to also admit that the little pink one looks like my SIL. Well not actually looks like so much as seems like her.

She seemed a bit when I told her. I thought it was a complement

No! The Ninky Nonk is the best. It runs around aimlessly, but at least it does it with purpose. The Pinky Ponk just floats about farting and doesn't go anywhere.
Actually, this could be a metaphor for my life - I'm the Ninky Nonk rushing around like a loony but not really going anywhere.

DH is a huge makka pakka fan. It's because makka pakka is always cleaning, and his wife (DH's wife that is) isn't.

Why do the adult Pontipines get strawberries and trifle for their tea and the teeny tiny Pontipines get gruel?

And what is the issue with the Tombliboos and their fecking trousers? Get them taken in or wear belts FFS!

Oh come on Onestonetogo, Archie singing about the coloured houses is wicked!

EyeballsintheSky · 22/04/2009 23:39

I mean, come on

ninedragons · 23/04/2009 05:47

I have no Ninky Nonk vs Pinky Ponk preference but the Tittifers give me the creeps.

I always think Mrs Pontipine would definitely be a MNer, as such an enthusiastic exponent of co-sleeping.

Flower3545 · 23/04/2009 07:41

Dh until recently has been working the other end of the country living in digs, with a tv but no cable tv.

He was then transferred to a job which means he gets home every night

So he is just coming to terms with in the night garden and we have question and answer sessions most nights when lo is watching it before bed.

Who is the blue one again, are they real birds why don't they get undressed for bed etc etc.

It has brought new meaning to our marriage

Cue a week or so ago our two adult DD's were visiting and were hysterical listening to their parents discuss the merits of pinky ponk juice.

I believe they are currently looking at rest homes for us both, one that doesn't have cable tv of course

MrsGokWan · 23/04/2009 08:26

AIBU o want to report Mr and Mrs Pontipine to the social services. They keep going home without the children and las night they let he children travel on the roof of the Ninky Nonk

RaspberryBlower · 23/04/2009 08:46

Another vote for the Ninky Nonk!

DD loves the Ninky Nonk and is nonplussed by the Pinky Ponk, so I do find myself hoping for the former.

If the Pinky Ponk appears I feel slightly deflated and say to the baby 'oh, boring, Pinky Ponk'. Glad I'm not alone, really.

My poor father cannot get his head round it at all. Every time he sees it (which is quite often) he goes "are those puppets or real people, they must be tiny people in there" or "are those real birds?"

Botbot · 23/04/2009 08:56

DD (2.8) is actively scared of the Pinky Ponk these days - she really hates the Ponk Alarm and if she hears it she shrieks 'GOING TO PONK A TREE!' and hares out of the room.

She does the same thing if the Shape Japer, Problem Blob or Puzzler appear on Numberjacks. Though, weirdly, she's perfectly comfortable with Spooky Spoon and the frankly terrifying Numbertaker.

FairMidden · 23/04/2009 09:04

OMG I've just seen this thread and am delighted that I am not alone. It is indeed hideous.

PuppyMonkey · 23/04/2009 09:15

Actually I don't like either the Nonk or the Ponk that much. I always sigh with disappointment if it looks like they're going to be featured a lot.

I am VERY suprised that no-one has mentioned the Ha Hoos so far. They aren't featured nearly enough imho. DD2 always gets so excited on one of their rare appearances.

Up the Ha Hoos! That's what I say!

savoycabbage · 23/04/2009 09:20

Those haa hoos are the real villans in the place. Bouncing around eerily.

smurfette15 · 23/04/2009 09:28

Botbot my 3yo DD is also terrified of the villains on Numberjacks! She screams and switches it off. But I think they're a bit creepy too.

She will also run out of the room in terror at the sight and sound of the Pinky Ponk so it's a vote for the Ninky nonk here too!

This thread has really cheered me up

pinkdelight · 23/04/2009 09:34

I always worry it's going to be a Ninky Nonk episode cos then DS gets all frantic and excitable like the Ninky Nonk where as the Pinky Ponk makes him quite calm.

The size/scale thing is crazy, like how the pinky ponk fits under the bridge which is actually about the height of Makka Pakka. I wonder if it's cos kids see the world more like that?

The Pontipine children eat "runny grobbles" - very mean indeed!

thumbwitch · 23/04/2009 18:27

Actually, I irrationally hate the Pontipines... I'm always quite irritated if they feature a lot.

fizzpops · 23/04/2009 19:10

My DD has just learned to say Haahoooooo - so cute!

easyroutemum · 08/05/2009 13:42

My DS (18months) does a mean impression of the Pinky Ponk and my DH loves it too so much so that he bought him a toy pinky ponk which my DS takes to the TV when the PP appears! . He also likes dancing to the music at the end when all the characters get together before the Tittfers sing.

mumbobumbo · 06/06/2009 16:57

Love this thread!

We have a toy Pinky-Ponk AND Ninky-Nonk in this household. DD loves both and so do I.

Agree with whoever said the Pontipines need to be referred to Social Services though! Have said it many times before - always losing the children and NO parental control at all (fancy allowing them to ride on top of the Ninky-Nonk!). Not to mention being starved of nutrious food (runny grobbles!).

Am also very worried about Macca Pacca, who seems to be OCD borderline autistic, with his stone collection and obsession with facial hygiene.

I think Iggle Piggle is the most boring character, even though DD loves him and smiles whenever I sing his song. Buts that's all he ever does, sing the dumb song!!!

Nolda · 06/06/2009 17:16

When I commented that Makka Pakka doesn't use any water to wash faces, my sister told me that he spits on the sponge when he's off camera . ITNG has never been quite the same for me since.

LovelyTinOfSpam · 06/06/2009 17:38

DD just said ninky nonk for the first time! What an odd coincidence!

We sky+ it, it's fab to have to hand...

Ninky nonk over pinky ponk for me, but we've only been watching it for a few weeks so not enough time to really grow to loathe anything...

I am frankly terrified of the harhoos though.

BouncingTurtle · 06/06/2009 17:43

YA sooooo NBU - I hate the farty noises it makes.

And what is the point of the Hahhoos!!

And why when you see the PP and the NN they are really small yet everyone can fit on them? It confuses me

Noonki · 06/06/2009 17:47

oh come on mumbo if you had 8 kids you would lose the odd one now and again no? .

And Makka Pakka does NOT spit on his sponge as he clearly has OCD.

melmog · 06/06/2009 17:48

So glad I'm not the only one! I've gone off the whole thing through overkill I think, but I never realised til i read this that I dread the pinky ponk episodes! Think it's all the rubbish floating around and flying like a daddly long legs. Do like it when it crashes though and I must admit to like the farty noises too.
