To think that an advert for Tena pads shouldn't be aimed at women in their 30s

Well the title says it all really.

What price pelvic floor exercises or surgery if you really do have 'bladder control' issues? Women in their 30s (without special needs) shouldn't have to wear nappies IMHO.

I feel quite annoyed now [rant].

BeehiveBaby · 19/04/2009 22:28

Surely these are slim pads, not 'nappies'? What's it to you?

TheSmallClanger · 19/04/2009 22:31

Some women get bladder trouble during and after pregnancy, and as a result of infections or certain medications. Why shouldn't they be made aware of products that can help them until the problem subsides?

Flibbertyjibbet · 19/04/2009 22:32

'without special needs'

!

I haven't got special needs but after pushing out a large baby then getting pregnant again before the pelvic floor excercises kicked in....

Good for you if you've never needed a little extra confidence in your pants.

Tommy · 19/04/2009 22:32

I think maybe they should have said "post-baby" rather than in their 30s

tattifer · 19/04/2009 22:32

they're slim pads not nappies and the whole point is that even women in their thirties (or twenties) can have issues with stress incontinence for a variety of reasons - childbirth being a fairly popular one! If it doesn't apply to you then fantastic - if you majored in kegel exercises then faberooni - but not every one is as fortunate.

Simplysally · 19/04/2009 22:32

They do a similar job to nappies.

It's "to me" as I am in my 30s and I find it irritating that these products are being aimed at my age group when by and large they are unneccesary for most people (SN women apart).

try trampolining SS and then post this thread!

GossipMonger · 19/04/2009 22:34

I am 38.

blossomsmine · 19/04/2009 22:36

Christ, after three kids there have been times when i could do with them

MrsMcCluskey · 19/04/2009 22:36

or a couple of star jumps
or a really good laugh!
Just because you dont have bladder problems dont assume that everyone is the same as you.
Even those with 'special needs'

saint2shoes · 19/04/2009 22:37

want a rather dense op

BeehiveBaby · 19/04/2009 22:37

I am completely confused....do you think it reflects badly on all women in their 30s? That as a group, you are now considered to be highly likely to have incontinence by all and sundry because of the advert?

Flibbertyjibbet · 19/04/2009 22:38

My 76 year old mother would probably be offended if they had put some old incontinent bat on the ads.

They show 20 somethings on ads for antiwrinkle cream. Do all the 20 somethings get upset that the advertisers are implying they are all wrinkly at that age?

Flibbertyjibbet · 19/04/2009 22:39

Oh and my mother has neither incontinence or special needs.

JackBauer · 19/04/2009 22:40

Good for you

So shoudl they advertise them for over 40's? 50's? 60's?
Sp everyone under that age shoujld feel weird and freakish if they have bladder control problems
A 'similar job' to nappies is not a nappy.

saint2shoes · 19/04/2009 22:41

can those with a weak bladder, just piss on the op please

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 19/04/2009 22:41

Crikey OP, not much knowledge of these things have you?

JackBauer · 19/04/2009 22:41

prenting? parenting obviously...

Simplysally · 19/04/2009 22:42

No it's more the way the tagline goes 'as a woman in my 30s' making it sound as though incontinence problems are going to occur then . Only a few years ago these ads were being targetted at my Mums generation (or older) and now they're going down the age ranges. It doesn't say 'after giving birth (etc)' which might not sound as bad.

Why is it an odd op? I'm asking a question.

OP posts:
FAQinglovely · 19/04/2009 22:43

sorry saint2 - miraculously no weak bladder here (incredibly lucky after having 3 children - 2 of them pushed out my fanjo ) - but I'll piss on her if you like

"Only a few years ago these ads were being targetted at my Mums generation (or older) and now they're going down the age ranges. "

Well thank fuck for that - someone has seen the light and realised it's no only the old biddies in the nursing homes that suffer from incontinence problems.

monkeypinkmonkey · 19/04/2009 22:44

How do you know they are not unecessary for most people??? For all you know all your friends could be using them, and not telling. What a silly silly thing to make you rant.

Hulababy · 19/04/2009 22:45

The advert is aimed at women in ther 30s (or whatever) who DO have badder control issues. It is obviously not aimed at the OP, so why are you worrying about it OP?

Just be thankful that you do not require them at this point in your life, and be understanding of the fact that there maybe be other women in their 30s who are not so fortunate for a range of reasons.

There are many adverts aimed at my age range but are not products I require or want. I just ignore them.

I am simply glad I do not require bladder control products at this time in my life; I hope it continues to be the case for a long time.
