Rather than chuck them in our normal bin at home?

oh bollocks dear, I've just googled, found this and fear that you might be right.

frumby.. i would! in fact, just use reusable liners, will save you a lot of money

absolute worst case here is they need a quick rinse in the bath if it won't all come off. quick spray of cleaner in the bath afterwards and it's fine

BiscuitStuffer · 17/04/2009 22:57

Holy moly - washing poo off in the bath - now that does make my eyes water and the thought of racing up and down stairs with 2 under 2 ferreting about the place while I undertake such a task extraordinaire.....

ahh well i have a downstairs toilet where I chuck the poo. it's rare that it needs a rinse

loving the fact that going upstairs to rinse a nappy is too much effort. but going for a walk to dump nappies in a litter bin is fine lol

frasersmummy · 17/04/2009 23:01

going up and down the stairs would be a hastle???

but taking your nappies out to a litter bin is not????

hahahahah..

BiscuitStuffer · 17/04/2009 23:03

But I leave the house twice a day with the kids anyway and as luck would have it, every 1-2 minutes there's a huge hooded public bin......! So i can just hook the nappy bag on the buggy and chuck it in as we zoom past.

BiscuitStuffer · 17/04/2009 23:03

I thought it was inspired.

what and you never go upstairs?

BiscuitStuffer · 17/04/2009 23:05

Not if I can help it - we all move as a herd otherwise all hell breaks loose.

Simplysally · 17/04/2009 23:06

How do you think your Mum or perhaps your Grandmother coped with pooey nappies - possibly no washing machine either .

Putting nappies in public bins other than a change when out and about is antisocial and probably illegal. Still it's better than dumping them in carparks or hedges .

spicemonster · 17/04/2009 23:06

But why do you do it? They don't smell that bad surely

BiscuitStuffer · 17/04/2009 23:08

I'm actually on another thread where the Ops LO actually poos directly in to a hedge....can't believe I'm on any poo threads at all to be honest (even though I started this one). Better than the bumsex one I suppose.

It's the combo of nappy sacks and cat food that sends us in to a spin. perhaps it really is just the cat food

OP posts:
BiscuitStuffer · 17/04/2009 23:10

I think that you are all right and I must amend my ways. How disappointing enlightening.

In my borough the council have just removed all the bins from the parks without notice in order to save £60,000.

Apparently they expect people to use the ordinary litter bins (unlined and without a lid, so they'll smell pretty revolting after a few hours on a hot day) because dog waste is not classed as clinical waste. Not sure whether human waste is though.

It seems they are planning to put a few more in but they haven't got around to it yet, so the dog owners have just been hanging their bags of crap on the empty posts...

scottishmummy · 17/04/2009 23:27

put them in your own bin.it's your child shitty nappy after all.manky

SuziSeis · 17/04/2009 23:30

why not put your nappy outside in the bin ?

chegirl · 17/04/2009 23:41

Biscuitstuffer you are funny

LOL at move in a herd.

I remember those days, two under two, two cats and two dogs trolling behind me everywhere I went.

Even the budgie joined in when I tried to do an excercise video.

Now they all ignore me

plimple · 18/04/2009 08:51

Give cat less food so it all gets eaten and you don't have to bin any. Rinse out tins and put in recycle.

Feed the cat a decent dry food and no wet. Much less stinky. Double bag pooey nappies (use degradable bags, Boots do them). Then be glad you don't have a large dog with digestive issues because nothing stops your bin stinking when you do. Trust me.

BiscuitStuffer · 18/04/2009 14:26

Oh my god - dog poo terrifies me. I don't think they are any number of bags that could be used to make me feel safe from it. I do love dogs however. Horse poo on the other hand is almost pleasant.

I am surprised that no one has invented an incinerator for nappies that could heat a household/hospital or other building, then you could just take them there and they could be put to good use. Not sure how the counterbalance of ECO friendliness/pollution would work. Still don't think it's right to dump YOUR dirty nappies in other people's bins.

SparklingSarah · 18/04/2009 19:51

Seriously - yes it's odd.

If it bothers you get a nappy wrapper bin
tenner in argos.

You clearly have FAAAAAAAAAAAAAR too much time on your hands.
Use cloth - time spent a little better.

BigBellasBeerBelly · 18/04/2009 20:12

In some places there are no bins and you just have to put the bags out in the morning on the right day - and you get fined for putting them out early - so you have to keep all of your rubbish for the whole week/two weeks in your flat/house with you. In a small place it can get really rank esp in hot summer.

So if that is OP situation then I understand where she is coming from.

it is illegal to put household rubbish in street bins though. Some bloke got a fine as someone from the council saw him accept his post from the postman on the path as he was leaving for work, read it walking down his path and then bin it in street bin rather than taking it back inside...
