Ive been obsessed with it for about a year, but seem to have come to some sort of revelation that its just an ego stroking pain in the arse for collecting people, showing off.
Im thinking of sending all my 'real friends' a msg and then just deleting my profile.

Has anyone left and regretted it?? (unlikely?)

Probably too late to the conversation.

Not at all unreasonable. Deleting my account was so liberating!

Boogie - I was quite happy with FB til yesterday but after reading everyone's posts on here wondering if I really need it in my life!

i am seriously considering ditching FB and emailing all the 'friends' i want to keep in touch with. the reason is that i am having trouble with someone at work who would kick off if i deleted her as a friend but has been putting tenuous-link bitchy comments about me (indirectly) on her profile (such a long story).

It is a bit of a minefield TBH - i also told everyone i was PG straight away as i knew it would filter onto FB at some point so it wasnt worth keeping it a secret

Well I've done it - just removed someone from my friends - easy as that. Too many innane updates (toenail cutting?!!) Only when I went into remove them I noticed they had 258 friends to my 37 - eek! well it's 257 now

Have never registered and don't want to. But, lots of friends are so I just have a nosey on their sites when they are over and see what everyone is getting up to. I email those people who i am still in contact with. Facebook seems to take up too much of people's time imo.

YANBU. Fb is a good way to keep in touch with old school/Uni friends, but privacy wise its not so hot.
The obsession with telling everyone what you are doing every minute of the day is crazy, yet some people are majorly into it, its so very bizarre!
I read a hilarious book called Blind Faith by Ben Elton which is set in the future and everyone has taken this facebook idealogy to the extreme, you are constantly updated on "friends" whereabouts and what they are upto.
Its a very good read for anyone who is getting annoyed with the facebook/myspace way of living!

I committed Facebook suicide recently and have never felt better - what a waste of time!

astragirl · 12/04/2009 13:39

I've just deleted everything from my fb account and deactivated my account, I feel so freeeeeeee

summerbird · 13/04/2009 21:48

i am doing it! i have set my status to tell all that i am deleting my account at the weekend and if they want to keep in touch then use my emai. i am also in the process of removing all the groups and photos etc. it feels so good!!

nkf · 13/04/2009 21:52

Is it more of a waste of time than Mumnset? Or is that heresy?
