to think that it seems if you have a DS first, most often the second is a boy?

However if you have a girl first it seems far more evenly spread that the second is either a boy or girl?!!!

Just an observation but it does seem that way!

My great grandparents had:

ggggggggbb !

So even if you do have a long run of one gender you can still have some of the other.

Lizzylou · 06/04/2009 10:28

tobytortoise I agree, I feel very blessed to have my two boys.

If I get asked again if I'm trying for a girl...grrr

snorkle 10 children! Aaaghh!
8 girls followe by 2 boys, wow!

mumnosbest · 06/04/2009 10:46

Is there a pattern?
I had DS then DD as did 3 of my friends and all 3 SILs. My sister and mum all had girls, apart from my brother who came after 3 girls. ime it's the opposite but don't think there's any pattern, except maybe within families, e.g my DH and his family all seem to have a DS then DD, whereas my family are mainly girls

mumnosbest · 06/04/2009 10:48

I did find a chinese chart in a mag once, blue and pink squares, you cross reference your age when you concieved and your due date and it predicted babies gender. It really worked for everyone I knew. Think it was in mother & baby or something

MrsGJB · 06/04/2009 11:08

Myself; two sisters; two brothers; three cousins and two neices all had DD1; DD2; DS - so perhaps patterns just run in families.

snorkle · 06/04/2009 12:25

arggh indeed blametheparents, though I guess big families were more common then. I always imagine how surprised the mum must have been when child number 9 turned out to be a boy.

Here's a link to a Chinese conception chart. Spookily, it is right for both mine. Though I guess it had a 50% chance of being right each time, s nt that spooky. Will have to go and work out if it's right for other people I know now...

I'm pg with no.2 and don't know the sex. We already have DS. Yesterday at a child's birthday party a friend of a friend just couldn't get her head around the fact that I don't mind either way what we have, will just feel blessed to have two children... 'But wouldn't you be glad if you had a daughter?' 'er, yes, and also if I had another son'. Stupid woman.

My friends with two are GG, BB, BG, GB, GB.

So there doesn't seem to be a hard and fast rule IMO.

I think on the whole there tend to be more boys...which is odd because everything I've ever read says the gender balance will always be at least 51/49 in favour of girls since they carry on the world...
