Tiny waste sizes and massive leg lengths! Does anyone have a child that fits their clothes well??!!

really, wish I'd known would fit 2 of my dds really well, they are very very slim

Poledra · 28/03/2009 21:57

'Fraid so, they fit my DDs quite well....

MANATEEequineOHARA · 28/03/2009 21:58

My kids have Mini Boden trousers that fit fine, and they are not really skinny or have extra long legs...I don't think so anyway...

ilovemydogandMrObama · 28/03/2009 21:59

DD is 2.8 and fits their 3-4 year clothes.

She\s quite tall, but a bit of a tummy

Mamii · 28/03/2009 22:02

Hey me too - Both DD and DS are tall and slim. No bum on either of them. By the time next/mothercare etc clothes fit them in the waist - they're like three quarter length in the leg. It's actually a pain trying to potty train DS, he can't manage the belt on his own and if he doesn't have a belt on his trousers they're round his ankles.

Thanks for the tip

my 3 and a half year old only now fits his 2-3 year old boden trousers in the legs!

tryingtobemarypoppins · 28/03/2009 22:07

Well glad to help! Maybe my DS is a shorty in the legs then!
We are going to have to get used to turn ups!

My DD is a bit short, with a thin waist, and they fit her well, though she needs a "younger" size for the trousers than she does for the tops, IYSWIM.

Yunyun · 28/03/2009 22:21

Same here, I find their trousers far too long - yet the waist is too small.
I only buy MB tops and dresses for dd.

letswiggle · 28/03/2009 22:21

I've always thought the opposite - trousers are a bit wide and too short. But then my boys are quite tall and thin.

Fairynufff · 28/03/2009 23:54

M&S is the same. Designed for tall, slim, willowy middle class kids. Mine have to have the elasticated waists from George at Asda

Mamii · 29/03/2009 17:31

George at ASDA are fab! DD is into HSM and they do some fab stuff for her in there.

stitchtime · 29/03/2009 17:34

i have generally tall dc. dont know why, as i am a shortarse.
boden clothes seem to be to big in the waist, and too short in the length. as are m&s, george, tesco, next everywhere...

my kids are not underweithgt, neither are the giants for their age.

georgimama · 29/03/2009 17:36

Yes, they fit my DS (aged 2) - he is tall and skinny and Tesco/Asda/Sainsburys trousers are massive on the waist, even after I have put the adjuster elastic on the smallest hole.

Stitchtime - try John Lewis or Pumpkin Patch. Their trousers seem to be longer and leaner.

stitchtime · 29/03/2009 17:36

fairy, i have tall , slim willowy middle class kids. please tell me where to buy clothes for them that actually fit?
ALL manufacturers think that all kids are obese, because my kids are NOT underweight, and there do not appear to be any high street shops that will manufacture waists that will actually fit.

stitchtime · 29/03/2009 17:37

thanks georgie, i'll try john lewis. i tend not to, as expensive, and only pumpkin patch is miles away., but i think they do online?

georgimama · 29/03/2009 17:49

I know, they are pricier. I tend to stick to John Lewis or Boden for bottoms and buy cheaper tops from Asda etc as don't have the same problem with tops.

I think PP are online.

In the summer it doesn't matter, can buy smaller age size shorts etc as they aren't too short! It's only winter trousers I have to buy a more expensive brand.

Merrylegs · 29/03/2009 18:03

I wish that were the case, but I have found the complete opposite!

DD is 8, skinny of waist and long of leg. Boden's stripy velour trousers size 9/10 are huge around the waist, but size 7/8 are practically half mast around her legs.

Tis most frustrating.

stitchtime · 29/03/2009 18:08

georgie, i do the same with shorts etc. last summer i got 11 year old ds shorts that were labelled 8.

he just keeps on growing. in the last seven weeks, he has grown two inches. but his waist is skinny as ever.

georgimama · 29/03/2009 18:11

Pumpkin Patch

I find Boden trousers short on my 8 yr old DD.
The majority of waist sizes on supermarket clothing are huge, some kids need the smaller waist.

Horton · 29/03/2009 18:52

Really delighted to hear this about mini Boden. I'm not a great fan of Boden generally but if it means I can get DD some trousers that aren't halfway down her arse by mid-morning I don't care what they look like!

WorzselMummage · 29/03/2009 19:30

i've got a long skinny one too. pumpkin patch & m&s are the only place to get jeans to fit.

never tried boden

jenkel · 29/03/2009 19:42

I've got one very skinny dd, about average height and Boden trousers fit her really well, I even like the towelling tracksuit bottoms, they are bigger but they have a drawstring waist that actually works rather than the decoration that they normally are. Her younger sister is taller and a bit chubbier and Boden doesnt really fit her well at all.
