Tiny waste sizes and massive leg lengths! Does anyone have a child that fits their clothes well??!!

They are genius for the my DD commonly known in our house as 'the-no-bum-wonder'

Sassybeast · 29/03/2009 19:51

I have skinny lanky ones as well so they fit perfectly.

My dd is small all over (the economy model, like me ), boden stuff fits her fine but it mostly has to be a size smaller than her age IYKWIM.

But their sizing does seem to be a bit random, she had one dress passed on to her that was way too short that she loved, so my Mum ordered as a birthday present what appeared to be the same dress in one size bigger and it would have fitted two of her.

(Mind you it worked out ok cos we got the money back and found a near enough identical dress from M&S that fitted and was half the price )

Mine too are tall , slim girls and Mini Boden trousers are perfect for them!

Littlefish · 29/03/2009 19:56

I've found the oppposite too. Their trousers are always huge on dd's waist, but come up very short.

Gap, particularly the skinny fit trousers are best on her, but still tend to be a bit big on the waist.

potatofactory · 29/03/2009 20:13

Definitely true. I'm just about to take up a pair of trousers for my dd or she won't get to wear them this summer. I don't THINK she has really short legs - I do hope not.

amidaiwish · 29/03/2009 20:18

Mini Boden trousers fit my DDs perfectly. M&S tend to be too big at the waist. Gap are often a bit short in the leg, fine at first but after a few washes a bit on the short side.

Fairynufff · 29/03/2009 20:23

stitchtime - I'm amazed actually because we're certainly not a crisp and pasty guzzling household but my 9 year old son has what I would call a 'rugby players physique' (chunky and muscley) but last year I had to order his school trousers from the BHS 'extra wide' range. I felt really awful and yet I would not regard him as fat/obese/overweight in any way. So all the other places we'd tried Next, Supermarkets etc. obviously fit much slimmer kids (even if I buy 2 sizes up and hem the bottoms). They must do their research into 'average sizes' to maximise their profits so I would say they all cater for quite slim kids because when I compare my son in his school and in his swimming class he is certainly not the biggest by any means.

We have the opposite problem with Boden, too big on the waist when they fit in the leg- why don't they do adjustable waists in the smaller sizes? Now my 2 yo is out of nappies, none of her trousers stay up!

ThingOne · 29/03/2009 21:11

My small and slender five year old DS fits perfectly into a pair of orange size 2-3 Boden trousers I bought for his little brother. Otherwise the 3-4 is a bit too long but not usually too big on the waist. Mostly we now go for M&S adjustable waist trousers as the falling down feeling is not popular.

Takver · 29/03/2009 21:24

Poppity we had that problem for years, literally, from when dd came out of nappies til really just about now (age 7). Even adjustable waist trousers made small fell down all the time. Why are dungarees not fashionable for little girls any more . . . DD does have a couple of pairs, but nice ones are really hard to find.

MollieO · 29/03/2009 21:30

Ds is 4 and wears Boden age 4-5 trousers and 5-6 tops. I buy trousers with adjustable waistbands so they don't fall down. Ds is tall and skinny and he is borderline needing age 5-6 in trousers now.

Gracie123 · 30/03/2009 01:26

Does anyone else have a problem with Next? My DS is 1, but has always worn clothes much too big and baggy from Next because the head holes are so small! Trying to force his head through the hole of the correct age/size always looked painful.
I don't think he has a particularly large head and other brands all seem to fit fine...
