I know several on here hate it, but are we too old to 'get' it (and therefore be unreasonable ourselves), or am I right to just

HATE HATE HATE

IT????

cos at the mo, if I see a post with text speak I ignore it (life is too short to try and decifer(sp?) it IMVHO), and also those with pure SHOUTING in too.

I also, shamefully maybe but there you go, actually think less of people who cennot seem to 'speak' properly in their posts. It is not as those we are limited on how many letter we have to use. we can waffle for pages if we like (altho better not to obviously), so I think text speakers lazy and not worth bothering with.

obviously this is only MY opinion, and I am sure peoples opinions of me are as 'blunt' too at times. but sorry.....

if you resort to text speak, then I will ignore you.

Sorry SoupDragon. I was reading through thread and hadn't seen your post!!

SoupDragon · 20/03/2009 14:26

There's nothing wrong with typing how you'd speak (ie slang etc) but text-speak has no place outside of, well, texting. no one speaks in text.

tattifer · 20/03/2009 14:26

We were told roger had retired...

SoupDragon · 20/03/2009 14:27

Psycho, you have said what I have wanted to say for ages...It's a bit like a first impression isn't it?
I can't understand why people need to use it tbh.

tattifer · 20/03/2009 14:29

Did it have something to do with why he had to leave?

SoupDragon · 20/03/2009 14:30

Brilliant!

My mobile is nearly always off, but when I do switch it on I get bombarded by messages, mainly from one friend, who passes on stuff like those e-mail things. Full of text speak. Once in a while she'll actually send me a relevant message and I'll reply. The last time I used u instead of you and I blushed as it went and my heart beat faster - I almost felt sick!

I must add an apology in here............

I know I am picking fault with the text speak and all, but I confess to being not perfect with the grammer and spelling etc.

ESPECIALLY at the moment due to being pumped full of steriods due to almost dying from allergic reaction last night.

she seemed rather nice
