DD1 is doing dance and drama GCSE.

tonight they were taken to see a show as part of their coursework (to the tune of £15 cost to us parents)

anyhoooooooooooooo

she has come home telling me about all the naked people in the show.

I asked her what type of nakedness.

she replied full-on nakedness.

and there was swearing, altho she is 14, so not immune to that.

I have just looked up the show tho, and they should not have even been allowed entry.....

the wording on the letter does not say 'voluntary contribution'.

it says.....

if you wish your DD to attend this then send in payment by return. non payment means not being included, which will have a detrimental (sp) effect on your DDs final GSCE grade.

((not exact wording, but pretty exact.))

I don;t think 42p and pocket fluff would be considered payment

When I was school (aged 15) and then again at college (aged 17/6years ago) I took part in a 'live art' classes and for one of them they used a nude model for us to draw. I didnt have any problem with it but I rember taking a long consent form home for both that had lots of info on for my parents to read about why we were doing it and who they should talk to about it if they didnt want they child to do it.
I did learn a lot from it but I cant see how they could have got away with it with out telling the parents. With out parents consent it could be seen as the model was exposing them selves to a minor.
I dont think there is any thing wrong the naked body but whats wrong is the parents were not told about it frist. I would be at the school talking to the head asking why the parents were not fully infomed (persoaly).

update.....

we have had a personal apology from the dance teacher.

apparently when she booked up, she wasn;t told about the content or age requirements. now, unsure about that a little, as really, all she had to do was google it and that would have told her, but seems she was shocked and very embarrassed by it.

now, it could be that she is apologising after being told to by the school for damage limitation etc, but I am happy enough as for me, and my DD, it hasn;t been a scarring incident (IYGWIM).

I do think tho that in future they will take more notice on checking up..........and they have assured us that their next theatre trip is all above board and age appropriate!

happy outcome, and everyone has stayed calm

What about the £500 My dd has just chosen geog and now am horrified, there's no way I can afford that. It's discrimination.
Trying to stay calm here.
