Should I apologise to this lad?

I was on the bus to work on thursday when this lad got on with an mp3 player broadcasting his music to the whole bus (not even wearing bad headphones) After a couple of minutes, I just got really cross and and stormed up the bus and asked him "Is this your bedroom?" Of course his reply was "yes, didn't you see the sign on the door - it says "my room now f* off"" (I've never done this before but was very overtired and stressed about stuff at work)

I made a complaint to the driver who came back and asked him to turn it down, which he did. But now I feel that if I'd just asked him nicely to turn it down, rather than being sarcastic, I might have got a different result.

I've seen him on the bus a couple of times before and will no doubt see him again, should I apologise for my rudeness or just forget all about it?

Forget it.

you're right though, you should have just asked him - you sounded like a cross old granny

Pan · 14/03/2009 22:11

yes.

2shoes · 14/03/2009 22:11

just smile next time you see him

Pan · 14/03/2009 22:12

be a good role model, instead of Soupy's cross granny.

peggotty · 14/03/2009 22:12

hmm he came back pretty quickly with a smartarse answer so I reckon an apology now wouldn't have any effect. I'd just forget about it, he probably has anyway.

HerBeatitudeLittleBella · 14/03/2009 22:13

Yes.

You will shock him and surprise him and make him question his view of the world and people and everything he assumes.

You will do him an enormous favour and act of kindness and you will feel wonderful about it afterwards.

2shoes · 14/03/2009 22:13

teens mouth of, but they are mostly ok

southeastastra · 14/03/2009 22:13

forget it but well done for having a go

2shoes · 14/03/2009 22:13

his comeback was quite funny

mej3 · 14/03/2009 22:14

I'd just leave it, you were a bit grumpy, he certainly answered you back quite aggresively. If you have eye contact with him I'd maybe half smile, but other than that I wouldn't bother, it's not as if you made him cry.

MrsMcCluskey · 14/03/2009 22:14

Y were BU.
No need to speak to him lke that

SoupDragon · 14/03/2009 22:14

No, HerBeatitudeLittleBella, I suspect he'll look at her as if she's mad and then laugh.

BitOfFun · 14/03/2009 22:14

I agree with 2shoes- look like you've got a sense of humour...you catch more flies with honey than vinegar and all that!

LittlePeanut · 14/03/2009 22:14

LOL at his reply!

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 14/03/2009 22:16

Will he have forgotten it? I wonder.

Has he had his MP3 player on since?

Nontoxic · 14/03/2009 22:20

Full marks to him for that reply.
You're clearly a reasonable person who had an off day so I think it's be very big of you and, as someone else said, make you feel great if you made it up with him.

HerBeatitudeLittleBella · 14/03/2009 22:20

oh yes he'll do that through, but nevertheless it will surprise him. And will penetrate somewhere.

Unless of course he's a psychopath. Which is unlikely. Though possible, there's a lot of it about.

KnickKnack · 14/03/2009 22:23

I'd probably give him a quick apology and a smile on the way past to your seat next time you're on the bus.

piscesmoon · 14/03/2009 22:29

I would surprise him with an apology.

ninah · 14/03/2009 22:31
