To tell a bloke in Asda to F*ck Off?

Was minding my own business in Asda, kneeling down to pick up some bread on the shelf only to have a bloke ram his trolley against me, making me topple over. I'm 9 weeks pregnant too. I struggled up from the floor and looked at him and said "excuse me". He screamed "I said excuse me to your husband". He thought a random bloke doing some shopping nearby was my husband (he wasn't!) Why he thought saying excuse me to him rather than to me was acceptable I don't know. The bloke came over stared aggressively at me and told me I needed to watch what I say, I could see such hate and anger in his eyes. My blood was boiling at this point and my back was sore from where he'd scraped past me so I lost it (normally I try and avoid any confrontation...) and told him to F Off. I think it worked though as he just stormed off and didn't say anything. Feel a bit shaken up by it all to be honest though, I had visions of him waiting for me outside the store to beat me up... I wish I'd kept my cool to be honest, will be worrying about it now for the rest of the day.

I had a good laugh at the supermarket snobbery! I am just off to have my ASDA's £1.20 chocolate cream cake with a cup of tea, and I suggest you do the same chocolatecremeegg

My Asda 3 for £10 bottles of wine are going down well here!

I had this fear that the bloke would follow me home and assault me or at the least slash my tyres, but thankfully nothing seems to have come of it... (paranoid or what) I do feel upset that I lost control and swore (there were no children around by the way) but I couldn't believe this bloke, he was like a ticking timebomb waiting to go off. I'm sure if I was a man he wouldn't have dreamed of pushing me over with his trolley.

I would have found a security guard and told him that i was assaulted and given a description.
I almost had a run in with a mad woman driver a few days ago. She followed me for miles down country lanes inches away from my bumper (was going 50mph) and then when we got to a larger road she overtook like a bat out of hell (must have been going almost 80mph, over the rise of a hill, overtook two cars on the WRONG side of the road and crossed over DOUBLE white lines!
At the bottom of the hill she was in traffic at the traffic lights so i gave a light beep on the horn and just tapped the side of my head as if to say "You are mad!)
You should have seen the evil look in her eyes!
Lucky she did not kill herself or anyone else.

Ripeberry that sounds awful, thank goodness you weren't hurt.

There are so many nutters about, I know this sounds melodramatic but it makes me worry about bringing a child into a world like this. Bit late for me to do anything about it now though

well i had similar happen, a student in s'oton pressed the emergency stop n an esculator which was going up to go down it, and as he was coming down knocked me clean off my feet, luckily DP half caught me so didnt whack my bump (6 weeks at time) but i can sympathise with the OP as all i could think about was my baby, i didnt swear at him as he was gone but if he hadnt of gone i would have done more than swear!! my legs are still bruised now and it was a few weeks ago!! i was concerned most about baby though as we have struggled to concieve so i think any reaction in that situation was fair.

to be honest whilst i wouldnt exactly szit in front f small children singing eminems greatest sweary hits, i dont think exposure to the odd fuck is going to do much harm...they hear worse in teh playgrounds eventually! I would take it as an oppirtunity to explain conflict behaviour personally, explaining that the OP had sworn because the man had hurt her, and sometimes we say things without thinking.

as for ASDA vs where-ever, its just a shop if you can get what you need and save a few bob, jobs a goodun!

Wigglesworth · 15/03/2009 10:27

I would have told him to fuck off too, what a wankshaft. Pregnant or not his behavoir was shocking. Congrats on your pregnancy BTW.

rebee · 15/03/2009 15:49

Horrifying, still at least he justified his actions by saying "excuse me" to a random stranger... even if he has said "excuse me" to you it doesn't give him the right to assault you.

Don't feel bad that you swore; you were frightened, shocked and in pain. It was simply a fight or flight response that is pat of our genetic make-up.

BBisfinallyPG - whre is So'ton was this?

dittany - It's actually assault, but he has deniability because it's a supermarket and he can pretend he didn't mean it." - erm, purely out of interest: how?
It's as private property as a home but that dosn't mean men have deniability there by pretending they didn't mean it

chocolatecremeegg - you could've also pretended you were saying "fuck off" to somone else! Well he started it Hope you're alright.
