Which is why we have Pedants' Corner! Non-pedants just don't get it.

Made2OrderJelly · 10/03/2009 20:20

Does this make me a pedant?

OP posts:
PrettyCandles · 10/03/2009 20:20

Why certainly! Welcome, welcome to The Sisterhood.

kerryk · 10/03/2009 20:26

yabu.

i get really irritated that i dont know when to use each one.

i also hate the fact my spelling is crap my handwriting is shite and i dont know how to format a letter the right way.

i would love to go and do something about it but i am to to take the first steps.

god knows how i ever managed to get a 2 in standard grade english and a b in higher.

Olifin · 10/03/2009 20:28

Your totally unreasonable.

PlumpRumpSoggyBaps · 10/03/2009 20:29

Pedants' Corner is my spiritual home.....
Welcome to the club Made2Order!

Rindercella · 10/03/2009 20:33

Made2OrderJelly · 10/03/2009 20:33

(but then my usuage of caps probably bugs some people )

OP posts:
edam · 10/03/2009 20:44

am relieved I got 100 per cent. Because despite being a pedant something has been going very wrong with my MN posts recently and I keep making silly mistakes. Maybe my superego is trying to tell me to spend less time on here or something...

I would also like to chuck in have/of.

As in "He should of gone to work."

Etc.

(I am also very glad I got 100%.)

ahappymummy · 10/03/2009 20:56

I got 100% but come on, is it really that important that it should rile you?!

StealthPolarBear · 10/03/2009 20:56

"draw" instead of "drawer" (only noticed that in the past few years)

MmeLindt · 10/03/2009 20:59

I scored 100% on the their/there/they're but only 25% on its/it's

StealthPolarBear · 10/03/2009 21:01

Do you not know, or were you having a bad night?

hmmSleep · 10/03/2009 21:02

Ha, it annoys me too, (as does to, too, two) but I know I accidently type them incorrectly from time to time, not because I don't know the correct usage, just through pure sloppiness! It also irritates me when people say 'I brought' instead of 'I bought' and when people confuse borrow and lend. This is from someone with terrible grammer and spelling skills, I'm such a hypacrite!

JazzHands · 10/03/2009 21:03

to/too

It's really not hard...

MmeLindt · 10/03/2009 21:03

Stealth
I did not know. I cannot even remember learning the difference between the usage of its and it's.

StealthPolarBear · 10/03/2009 21:05

it's = it is or it has only
its is possessive
Just wanted to check before being called a patronising cow
(although you still can if you want to!)

hmmSleep · 10/03/2009 21:06

It's not hard at all, but you'd be amazed how frequently people miss of that all important second 'o'
