I feel unreasonable about this, but i have lost count of the times that I have thought, oh i need X so i will just pop to woolworths to get it and then thought, oh, no, i wont will i! So despite me saying that i wouldn't miss it, i really really do - especially as i don't drive and a lot of the stuff they sold is just no available in town.

Some of the smaller retailers have, i noticed, started to stock some of the things you could buy from there so that is definately a GOOD thing, but for my own convenience - i bloody miss woollies!!

Ours is going to be a H&M too - I can't wait, I've been wanting a H&M for ages

I do miss Woolies though, especially the pick n mix! Ours had a cafe as well and we used to get the breakfasts from there when we were skiving from at college.

I wish ours was going to be H&M. It's going to be Iceland

Where on earth am I going to get refills for my condensation boxes Hey? And cheap bags for birthday pressies, and needles and thread...

wotulookinat · 02/03/2009 09:53

Wilkinsons do the granular stuff for condensation boxes.

Needed wellies the other week for school trip for ds .... could not think of anywhere else to go other then good old Woolies Ended up at the garden centre paying a small fortune. I heard their last packet of Pic'n'Mix went for a tidy sum on e-bay last week

I really miss Woolworths too. I use to buy birthday presents, books, clothing and miscellaneous items like sewing needles in there. I could walk there from where I live and it was the only shop of its kind on my local derelict high street. Now, I have to drive or catch bus/train to buy things so increasing my carbon footprint.

Such a shame.

YANBU. I miss Woolies so much. Just having it there in the middle of the high street, life was so easy. Like today, I realised that all our forks seem to have vanished, and in the good old days I would have picked up a nice cheap set from Woolies until I could afford/get to John Lewis etc. Not any more.
Sorry to get political, but I honestly think, if GB loses the next election, people will say his indifference to the fate of Woolies (while bailing out banks, car firms and various other randum businesses) is a key example of how out of touch he is with ordinary people.
