AIBU?

Share your dilemmas and get honest opinions from other Mumsnetters.

To think there's more appropriate ways to communicate with one person than to start an AIBU thread?

Try using the phone, or email, or FB in future...

Or are you just after attention?

Roffle at ScottishMummy and her obsession with phlegm coloured bugaboos!!

SoupDragon · 22/02/2009 21:04

You have, clearly, done the same thing since you are complaining abut what one poster has done.

lollipopmother · 22/02/2009 21:06

What's an NBF!?

ScottishMummy · 22/02/2009 21:07

New best Friend

mm22bys · 22/02/2009 21:09

New Best Friend, I am guessing!

No I'm not, and you have missed my point.

I was talking about those threads where there is either one person's name, or a whole group of names, you know the "cliquey" ones I am talking about.

I know there seems to be a place for them in places like "Chat" but hadn't seen one in AIBU before (although will stand to be corrected).

My OP was not directed at any one particular poster in the hope they would see it....it was to get the general consensus, which does actually seem to be IABU!

OP posts:
ScottishMummy · 22/02/2009 21:12

what cliquey threads are you referring to?do they specifically say a MN name?or is it the MN top of the pops who is your faveourite MN gusthathon?

wotulookinat · 22/02/2009 21:13

what was the title of the thread?

ConnorTraceptive · 22/02/2009 21:13

So your annoyed that it has been innapropriatly placed in the AIBU topic?

ConnorTraceptive · 22/02/2009 21:14

excuse awful spelling

mm22bys · 22/02/2009 21:15

The ones that say particular names like:

ScottishMummy

OP posts:
wotulookinat · 22/02/2009 21:16

I see what you mean. Let me be the first person to say YANBU.

ScottishMummy · 22/02/2009 21:16

oh like the do get a grip mm22bys threads

K999 · 22/02/2009 21:17

I dont see the problem. If you dont like a thread, then leave it or hide it. Or even switch your computer off!

mm22bys,why dont you clarify your post.if we are all getting wrong end of the stick.

shootfromthehip · 22/02/2009 21:22

?

If you are not the person that is named in the thread either read it out of noseyness or don't read it because you know it is not for you. YABU

Stretch · 22/02/2009 21:28

Maybe the poster knew that the other poster frequents AIBU? So it's a quick way to find them. I still don't see why it upsets you so much??

Hulababy · 22/02/2009 21:29

Still think YABU

MN is used for loads and loads of reasons by lots of people. Have been on MN for 6 years now and these types of threads searching for one (or a few) named people have always been on here.

Does it bother you in all thread areas or just AIBU?

But regardless of where TBH, as said already - why does it bother you so much?

Can you not just ignore it?!

mm22bys · 22/02/2009 21:29

Maybe...

It doesn't upset me, I just thought it was weird, that's all. Each to his / her own...

OP posts:
ScottishMummy · 22/02/2009 21:30

frequents AIBU!Love it - makes me think a drunken floosie of cantankerous disposition

Stretch · 22/02/2009 21:31

mm22bys · 22/02/2009 21:32

HB, I've been here four years, and of course have seen the chatty threads between a couple of people, and I don't have a problem with it.

I hadn't seen one in AIBU before.

It doesn't upset me, maybe it surprised me more than anything - I hadn't seen AIBU being used in that way before.

OP posts:
ScottishMummy · 22/02/2009 21:34

nothing on AIBU surprises me.not even my MIL has halitosis i wont let her hold baby AIBU

5inthebed · 22/02/2009 21:35

I understand what the OP is getting at. I think its a bit odd to start a convo AIBU, when thats not what AIBU is for really.

Having said that, the post in question was an urgent one, so possibly the only place the mnetter could be found?

LucyEllensmummy · 22/02/2009 21:36

mm2bbys, if you are refering to the thread i think you are reffering to - dont worry, it all came out in the wash (after the offending poster hit the vino i think) and all is well and happy in mumsnet valley
