To not want to pay £9.50 to take baby on hols

I booked a sun holiday when ds was 6 wks old (12 wks now) when booking i could only book for adults and children not infants so he wasn't included. I have now received my confirmation and rang the holiday park to ask if i could hire a cot as i will have a baby, after being to i could upfrade for £75 (not gonna happen) they have asked that i pay £9.50 to take ds and that i will have to pay for extra passes for him when i arrive.

Surely this is taking the piss, ds will be nearly 5 months old when we go, so we won't be doing the entertainment anyway and surely paying £9.50 to take him with us is rediculous.

I feel much better now i have had a rant !!

Having seen the form, I can't see what on earth the OP is whinging about. The company aren't trying to make money out of her; this isn't a 'hidden extra' or anything else devious on the part of the holiday company; it's a baby which the OP knew she had when she booked the holiday but didn't declare for reasons best known to herself.

So no, asking you to pay what you owe is not taking the piss or ridiculous and yes, YABU.

Why not leave the chid behind and offer someone £9.50 or less if you think that is expensive to look after it for a few days. I'm sure you will be inundated with offers.

mm22bys · 18/02/2009 19:46

Cheapskate. Some places would charge that for a cot per night.

YABVU.

If your five month old pukes, someone has to clean it up.

If he pulls over and breaks a lamp, it has to be replaced.

High chairs cost money etc.

Saw someone mention that they are taking dd on a plane. Our dd will still be under two when we next fly. Have booked her a seat too. (she has to sit on our lap for take off etc)

  1. for the baggage allowances and
  2. will have ds also sat on one of our laps so would be a pain with a stranger sat with us.

Anyway, back to the op. Tis £9.50 for fuck sake. You'd pay more than that for the cot hire anyway.

When we went on a sun holiday last year our Dd hadn't been born but just put her down as baby Jones. She was 12 weeks old when we went and we paid £9.50 which was fine and what I would expect. She slept in her pram carrycot.

lisad123 · 20/02/2009 00:23

tegan which one you going to? i used to have a caravan on one of their sites, can let you know if its ours.

tegan · 20/02/2009 11:19

Brilliant, can he ring up for me too then? I have to pay for four people even though four people are not going? If it's not fair for you to pay for a child it won't be fair for me to pay for a non-existant person will it?

Oh but I agreed to those terms when I booked the holiday?

Just back from holiday where I had to pay for a family insurance for just myself and dd who is 2 as they don't do a policy for single parents. I therefore paid for a policy for 2 adults and children go free. My sister could not get their policy as she has 3 children.

That's just life sometimes.
