They also did Ramones ones, which I thought were an affectation rather than yuck.

I don't know why I feel this way - presumably because the Rolling Stones are still together as a band and are - IMO - a ghastly bunch of geriatrics.

My DDs both wear Blondie t-shirts and DD2 (7 yo) now has 2 Elvis t-shirts, he's her new obsession (much to her Grandmas delight!). She desparate for a Stones one because I wear them .

Carter USM - wicked! I have a Carter t-shirt and I get funny looks when I wear it to playgroup - I'd love to get DS one!

YABU, agree that gig tee shirts look v sad on over 25s though

Why? Music isn't out of bounds to the over 25s. I don't wear gig t shirts often but I will if I want to.

I brushed past a copy of the Daily Mail at the petrol station on the way to Next this morning. I must have caught a slight case of Home Counties, and hope to shake it off and be back to normal by the end of the day.

we've been given bob dylan, beatles and bob marley shirts for 6 mo DS.

i don't mind them but wouldn't buy them myself.

Actually to clarify, it should be a band the parent likes or has liked in the past IMO, otherwise it's a bit "tryhard".

I wouldn't touch the slogan ones with a bargepole, though.

I would never buy a band t-shirt sold in high street shops, so I would definitely not buy one for DD. Made me cringe the first time I saw a Motorhead t-shirt in Top Shop ...or such like.

Nothing Daily Mail about it IMO.

YABU, I think they are great. I do agree though that generally Next is a bit disappointing at the moment.

My ds 2.5 yrs has one and he wears it. my parents bought it at a concert, because it said "sticky little fingers" on it (I think that was the name of the tour?) and they thought that was funny (so do I). I suppose it's not a really "nice" thing for toddler to wear, but I do like that it's different to all his other clothes. I can't remember, but I think it has the lips on it... yeah, actually I guess it's kind of gross. but somehow I still like it. It's a size four, so we'll wear it for another year!

I think YABU too. My DS has a Motorhead and David Bowie and a Rolling Stones one and that's because these are bands that we like and play them in the house all the time. I think it's a million times better than the horrib generic Thomas the Tank Engine or Barbie themed rubbish, IMHO....

I was feeling oddly repelled by Rolling Stones t-shirts - just these, not even the Ramones ones - on small girls. Not small boys. Small girls.

Nah, that's not unreasonable. The Rolling Stones are pretty grim whoever is wearing them

I bought a 'Sticky Fingers' T- shirt when I was about 12 yo. It had a working zip that went over the breast. My zip was around my belly as he t-shirt was too large. I don't think my Mum ever realised the significance of the zip

bowie t-shirts on kids are great.
i instantly think that the kid is much cooler when i see a bit of ziggy stardust on their t-shirt.

I don't do the naff kids themed clothes either but can't bring myself to dress dd in 'adult' type clothes. She is only 8 months but there are still so many outfits (like the Klass stuff in Mothercare) that look more suitable for teenagers. I put the band tshirts in the same boat TBH... although maybe its different if the child is older and likes the music too.

Either way I still can't bear band t-shirts in high street shops... takes the rock and roll right out of them!

I think goes along the lines of thinking of children as accessories and extentions of yourself thing isn't it.
Crap and sexualisation, poor judgement all round - for the person who thought it up to the person who buys it.
