I think that's good advice - don't quit, but have less.

Probably most important you don't get stressed beforehand though - no op is fun, but at least after this one you get positive results - imagine going through all this to get your gall bladder out...

has anyone seen the fagless fags- its a fake cigarette that looks like a fag, tastes like a fag and gives you a nicoteen hit , like a fag. you get them from , i want one of those , site.think they were invented to get around the smoking ban! ,supposedly better yhan the niccorette things! . Hecate, you don't 'fail at everything' - !! I'm mostly a lurker here and hardly ever remember names, but even I haven't failed to notice what a kind, goodhearted, FUNNY poster you are.

I've also gradually had my 'bad-for-me' habits whittled down but smoking is the last to go - it's a comfort in a way non-smokers won't understand. I'm thinking of Basil Fawlty here 'Another avenue of pleasure closed off to me' - !

Just imagine, if you do manage to kick the weed before the OP, not only will you look great, you'll smell great ! It's a win-win situation !!

Quitting is so hard, isn't it? Good luck, Hecate.

Have you tried cutting down by replacing some of your cigarettes with those fake cigarettes that you suck and they give you a nicotine hit? That might help at least get your numbers down, and keep your hands busy so that you don't snack on food.

As much as I think quitting is a Good Thing, I am swimming against the tide - now with the diet, the worry of the op and everything else, it could well be too much.

Well done for doing so well. My mother and sister have both tried to not smoke- and found it unbearable.

for what it's worth, I was unable to give up the evil weed too prior to surgery but I came out of hospital a non-smoker and have never had one since

Try to stay off them if you can tho cos in recovery you will cough like buggery and it hurts like hell

Actually, it's not bad. I'm not really missing it. It's odd. I expected to be climbing the walls.

I have forgiven her I wasn't cross with her (although she thought I was ) I understand what motivated her.

However - I AM cross about the 'Hecatewatsit'.
