She doesn't say the 'h' at the beginning of words that begin with 'h'.

Today we sang:

Umpty Dumpty
Ickory dickory dock
Eads, shoulders, knees and toes

The little girl next to us was called Hannah. She was called Annah all lesson.

Or should I just grit my teeth and stop being such an Orrible Snob?

YABU

Annoying it may be, but stopping swimming lessons because of it????

georgimama · 27/01/2009 12:21

Why were you singing nursery rhymes at swimming?

NoBiggy · 27/01/2009 12:21

But can she teach swimming?

Is your child enjoying it?

If so, her dropped H's are neither here nor there.

compo · 27/01/2009 12:22

lolol

yabu

go to the library for sing alongs

go to the swimming pool for ... er.... swimming?!

SheherazadetheGoat · 27/01/2009 12:22

you need to get her sacked before more toddlers are subjected to her commoness. did you wash thoroughly in dettol afterwards? apparently it is infectious, though boden swimwear does offer some protection

MascaraOHara · 27/01/2009 12:22

FGS. Get a life.

seeker · 27/01/2009 12:22

Oh, purlease!

BitOfFun · 27/01/2009 12:22

YANBU- at least your darling will be able to correctly enunciate "Help!" as they flounder in the canal...far more important

MmeLindt · 27/01/2009 12:23

Ohdearohdearohdear

Mimia · 27/01/2009 12:27

I might stop coming to mumsnet because the OP has terrible grammar.

I drop my H's and my T's because that is my accent. It does not affect my ability to do my job. YABVVVVU.

YANBU to consider it
but YABU to stop going on the strength of it

if it was a primary school teacher trying to do phonics with no aitches it would be more of a problem

(I once gave up a yoga classs because I couldn't stand the sound of the woman's voice - not aitchless but simpering)

Mimia · 27/01/2009 12:30

We sing rhymes at our swimming lessons too.

Wizzska · 27/01/2009 12:34

What's wrong with singing in swimming lessons? That's what you do at baby swimming lessons.

Clary · 27/01/2009 12:34

Yes we used to sing at toddler swimming - when HD falls off the wall, you jump toddler into pool, etc etc.

It?s a great idea.

YABU not to want to go because of this aitches thing.

At my kids? school, most of the teachers say ?haitch? for that letter of the alphabet. That?s cause it?s how it?s said round here. I?m not thinking of moving them to another school! (tho I do point out to them that it?s actually ?aitch? grin)

pinguthepenguin · 27/01/2009 12:37

people like you make me want to scream

Get a life.

Gateau · 27/01/2009 12:51

Not worth answering the OP, but in answer to someone's question about singing in swimming "classes", (Am at taking a toddler to ANY "classes" but that's a whole new thread) yes it does go on.
My friend took her little girl to one such class and lasted one week. She thought the nursery rhymes were cringeworthy and something she could easily do herself at the local swimming pool at a fraction of the cost of these over inflated prices.

allgonebellyup · 27/01/2009 12:52

oh ffs

georgimama · 27/01/2009 12:54

Ah well, I am one of those negligent mothers who doesn't take her toddler to classes at all. I am at work.

DDraigoch33 · 27/01/2009 12:54

''Or should I just grit my teeth and stop being such an Orrible Snob?''

YES!!!!!!!!

OchAyeballsintheSky · 27/01/2009 12:57

LOL @ OP. Can't you make her use earplugs so she can't hear the teacher?

Are swimming classes for babies worth it? DD is 12 months and has been swimming a couple of times and isn't fussed either way. I sometimes ponder the usefulness of taking her to baby swimming classes but I'm not sure I can be arsed.

Does it actually help them in any way or is it activites for PFB only? DD is a PFB before I get flamed
