I would expect teachers in schools to be able to do it.

But I am perhaps missing something.

Maybe it's just my RE degree that needs a 2:1? Well, 'good' degree requested but they only offer bursaries to 2:1 supposedly

I think it should be compulsory for HE parents to join MN and spend some probationary time in pedant's corner.

I know TBE, she was a single mum of 5 so had to leave when they revealed the decision a week after she had started. She'd have been good too. Unsurprisingly, I have decided NOT to apply there this year!

She was taking discrimination action- must e-mail her and see how that is going.

A university should be setting an example of equality amongst their students so it's pretty shocking that they work like that Peachy. Everything else being equal though (assuming everyone applied on time and there were no mitigating circs why they didn't achieve higher grades) I'd expect a 2:1 to be given a bursary for further study over a 2:2 student. Having said that, my ex-bf got a 2:2 in engineering and secured a full bursary for his Master's degree as he applied as soon as the applications for funding were opened. Nice work if you can get it.
