I have been reading this site for a while but every time I come to stick my toe in the water something kicks off and it always seems to be same people in the forefront of it

I know that any site has big personalities. But I am finding it difficult to join this place, which I would have liked to be part of, because every time I have time to post between work and children, there seems to be a big argument brewing abot nothing: stuff like changing names and people posting elsewhere.

I think i'm asking whether it is always like this and whether I should just give up

It's funny. I've been here for ages and have never got involved in any of the pointless spats over trolling and name changing and mouldies and oldies and newbies and yadda yadda yadda. maybe that's because I just switch my computer off if MN starts to fuck me off. Its not hard.

follderol · 21/01/2009 17:54

I have always found it hard to not gaze at arguments though. I find them magnetic, even when I don't know anyone involved in them. I wish I had your strength MrsMattie

I know what you mean, follderol - totally hypnotising. You can even practically guess what some people are going to say next!

blossomsmine · 22/01/2009 14:07

I love mn but have noticed the odd nasty comment etc., It almost happened to me recently, sometimes its the same old people! Won't let it stop me playing on mn though!! Far too many nice people on here to make me stop!

sadnog · 22/01/2009 14:18

I agree with claw3 that SN section is ACE! Really nice, knowledgeable and helpful people. I'm a relative newcomer and posted out of sheer desperation. I tried another site first but immediately retreated when someone told me all my DD needed was a "good smack!" Yes, they did really say that .
MN is best thing thats happened to me for ages.

tumtumtetum · 22/01/2009 14:23

The trick is to avoid getting into controversial threads with lots of forthright posters when it is something you actually care about.

Unless you enjoy a good ruck of course!

bubblagirl · 22/01/2009 14:31

i have to agree also with sn thread wonderful bunch of people endless support for me and no harsh words spoken between us ever

took me a good 2 years to become established to talk with people and feel part of mn but a few wonderful people have been a life line to me and cant thank them enough they all know who they are

i dont get involved in silly argument but will read for some fun lol

PheasantPlucker · 22/01/2009 14:36

Sadnog - nnnooooooo ??
See you in SN

skirt · 23/01/2009 11:29

who were you on BMC? Think there might be a few folks coming on here as BMC subs are up for renewal soon and I'm certainly not sure whether I am renewing. I LOVE rows by the way

follderol · 24/01/2009 15:42

I'm not going to say skirt. I think I let too much of myself out into the open and I'm enjoying my new anonymity
