To expect other chilren not to draw on DS.

DS has come home from School with his hand written on.

In my eyes you write on paper. Anything else is wrong.

I can understand some children will get their hands dirty from doing their own colouring etc.. But to have someone else draw on hands is something else.

He was at my mum's

She took a photo and lost it

MrsMagooo · 19/01/2009 19:31

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Oh that photo would have come in so handy

twentypence · 19/01/2009 19:36

The year 5 boys I teach still try to do this sometimes.

waspriceyp · 19/01/2009 19:42

Deep breath, move on! My friend (a grown woman) woke up one morning (after a night out) to find that her husband had drawn a cock on her cheek and all kinds of messages relating to that particular doodle on her face!!!!
Luckily he wasn't so drunk that he chose a permanent marker and it was the weekend.

When I went on a night out recently I wrote "bath me" in eye liner on my DS's tummy so that I'd know if DH kept his promise about washing the kids before bed

MrsMagooo · 19/01/2009 19:51

LOL Was - I like it!

waspriceyp · 19/01/2009 19:56

So did I, I was giggling when I wrote the post. You so wouldn't expect it of them!

Did you mean the "bath me"! It worked! However, looking back it was probably baby wiped off and next time I'll write it on his bum or something!

Stayingsunnygirl · 19/01/2009 20:43

Lololol fizzbuzz - and what a shame that your mum lost the picture!! Definitely one to tell his girlfriend, though.

FaintlyMacabre · 19/01/2009 21:26

"In my eyes you write on paper. Anything else is wrong."

Clearly you've never written on a banana with a biro.

Umlellala · 19/01/2009 21:35

Come on people, haven't you heard of INK POISONING???!!!

2.9yo dd looks at me aghast if I write on my hand but I know it's the only way I'll remember something.

BCNS · 19/01/2009 21:37

wait till your ds reaches teenhood.. it will be perminant marker and compass fights..

morningpaper · 19/01/2009 21:38

At the last party DD went to, there was a man there with a beer or two and 100 facial piercings who was DRAWING ON THE CHILDREN'S BODIES with biro

Of course I was but then DD came over and her whole belly was covered in this amazing intricate fairy design

turns out he was a tatooist

all the kids loved it

it was ODD though

cheesesarnie · 19/01/2009 21:43

was it non toxic though?

morningpaper · 19/01/2009 21:44

I don't know

I didn't lick her clean or anything

cheesesarnie · 19/01/2009 21:49

you are safe then.

i ment op though mp

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 19/01/2009 21:54

When my mum has dd1 I know she has taken her to school by following a checklist;

Does she have paint on her white blouse?
Does she have food on her sweater?
Does her white coat look like she has slid up the school yard on her belly?
Does she have pen on her arms/legs/hands/belly/face?

If I can answer yes to all of these questions she has been in school that day.

YABU.

saint2shoes · 19/01/2009 22:03

yabu

Stayingsunnygirl · 19/01/2009 22:14

In fairness to the OP, I have to say that I don't like it when my dc's come home covered in biro (whether self administered or not).

But skay, you just can't let everything stress you out or bug you - it wouldn't be good for you or for your relationship with your dc, their friends or the school. And if you make a big issue out of something that needn't be such a big issue, how do you cope when a bigger issue comes up? You have to leave yourself something in reserve.

Stayingsunnygirl · 19/01/2009 22:17

PS - and I'd be a bit careful of using the 'In my eyes you just write on paper' line to your ds - because he might take you literally and draw all over your new wallpaper or his library books. Children can be very literal, so you need to be specific - ie: "if it's not drawing paper, then don't draw on it. If you are not sure, ask first."

edam · 19/01/2009 22:22

I used to draw all over my arms and legs when the mood took me. Got royally told off by the PE teacher once!

Still write on the back of my hand when I need to remember something. Must stop doing it, ds has started noticing and it is Not A Good Habit. But very, um, handy...

TheLadyEvenstar · 19/01/2009 22:39

LOL This thread has made me laugh.

Skay, You would never allow your ds near me then! ds1 is 10 and I still write notes on his hand when he is asleep things like

"You're smelly"
"I love You"
"Mingerrrr"
once I wrote left and right on the wrong feet i found it funny but it did confuse him he didn't know i did it and he was only 5. I also paint on friend children with normal paints (block paints) and they return the favour...oh it is so much fun mind you maybe i need to grow up a bit.

I think tonight i will write on ds1s forehead so i know if he washes in the morning lmao

Snooch · 20/01/2009 10:53

"Hmm wait till your ds is 13 and the girl next to him writes "I'm horny" on his hand.

I kid you not."

GOOD LORD!!?? [shock}

LMAO - same checklist I use to make sure my almost 14 yr old has been at school (only swap paint for make-up!)
