I have no problem with men walking small dogs, but my dad did completely piss himself once when out walking on Brighton seafront with DS1 (who was about two at the time); they passed two men with a tiny dog and DS1 shouted 'Look! A CAT!'.

Makes me think of day in the summer just gone. Bloke had just had his (wild and curly) hair cut very short, as this is the only way he can keep it neat for work (RAF). He had put on an England football shirt because most of his other tops were in the washing because I am a lazy bint had been busy that week and the housework had gone down the pan a bit. He walked out of the door with our two rotties on their chain leads (they have chewed through too many leather ones for us to be able to afford to keep buying them) and it suddenly hit me that he could not look more chav if he tried! (We are very respectable and hardworking, I promise!)

He has always said that he couldn't walk a small dog though.

We have pomeranian. He's tiny and very fluffy. Dh walks him. In fact, it was dh who wanted a pom. He is not a shit dog; in fact he has convinced many small-dog-hating humans that small dogs can, in fact, be very loveable

I was very offended when someone called him a fashion accessory though (the dog, not dh - no-one would call dh a fashion accessory)

was on a day out with family at bourton-on-the -water (cotswolds pretty village made for grannies)
two men were waiting outside a pottery shop whilst their wives bought ornaments, which they carried, and they also looked after the little dogs - who were so short they didn't even come to the top of their rather fetching socks-and-white-knee-socks-combo!

We dog sat a friend's cocker spaniel regularly a few years back. DH and I used to walk it in the park just before bedtime. He used to do what I said but refused to do anything for DH. Hence a 6'2 muscular skinhead was regularly to be seem wandering round the park at twilight yelling 'Trixie! Trixie!' with increasing desperation.

It just plain wrong to have a dog smaller than a cat IMO

If I were ever to have a dog I would love a Newfoundland now there is a DOG, cannot imagine clearing up after it though and the food bills.

As it happens I only have cats that makes me a lazy person as you don't even have to walk them.

I would love a pet that actually likes it owners and is pleased to see them.

Our Scottie had the unfortunate habit of thinking she was the size of a rottie.

Every walk was an adventure.

Believe me, I was not man enough to walk her, it had to be the dh.
