i have LOVED having them at home this holiday. they have played nicely together, been good company, have chilled out together.

i hate that during term time , i only get them when they are knackered! and we always rushing and having to make sure homework is done and bags are packed and shoes are polished and whatever whatever...

i'm not looking forward to tomorrow at all.

I wish school and work started at 10am. Life would be just perfect then.

themulledmanneredjanitor · 04/01/2009 21:50

yes-that would definitely be easier!

I don't want ds to go back either. Another week of both of us being off would be nice.

baublerock · 04/01/2009 21:52

My boys are looking forward to going back, I'm not looking forward to the rushing around, school run, homework etc.. We have been pretty lazy over Christmas so it's going to be a shock for us all but a routine will be a good thing I guess.

Ingles2 · 04/01/2009 21:53

you're so right mmj, we've had a great holiday too, the ds's get on great, play together, I've even managed to get some decorating done.
back to the bloody nightmare that is, school, homework, football, tennis, swimming....etc...etc..

girlandboy · 04/01/2009 21:53

Mine don't go back until Tuesday!

MillyR · 04/01/2009 21:53

YANBU. I haven't even been able to appreciate mine because I had to work yesterday. And my school isn't open tomorrow but I'm at work. Just keep on looking forward to the weekend then you get them all day! I think there is something about January that makes me wish I was SAHM, because I am the same every year at this time!

ComeOVeneer · 04/01/2009 21:53

I was really looking forward to tomoroow, have had a lovel time with them but I want to get the house back in order do a major spring clean/declutter and redecorate most of thehouse, but ds came downwith chicken pox this evening so only dd will be going back tomorrow, ds will be housebound (as will I) for the week.

themulledmanneredjanitor · 04/01/2009 21:53

i hate the thought of it all starting up again.

piscesmoon · 04/01/2009 21:55

I always hate the holidays ending!

Ingles2 · 04/01/2009 21:55

chicken pox CoV !!! oh no! is he ok?

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 04/01/2009 21:56

mmj. I felt a bit like that, until I discovered an hour or so ago that it is an inset day tomorrow and they are not, in fact, going back tomorrow. [grit]

ThingOne · 04/01/2009 21:58

Inset day tomorrow . My DS2 is so going to miss his big brother on Tuesday, sob.

onepieceofbrusselssprout · 04/01/2009 21:58

The actual getting up will finish me off. The baby wakes up at 5.30am ish but we manage to pop her into our bed and I feed/cuddle/stick dummy in til ooh 8 ish on a good day. Tomorrow dh will be up at 6.45 and if I want a shower I will have to be up soon after.

Roll on half term.

BlackEyedDogstar · 04/01/2009 22:00

I just checked the half-term dates; only 5 weeks away. Really don't want all the school stuff starting up again!

lottiejenkins · 04/01/2009 22:02

I have my ds at home from residential school for an extra week as he has impetigo.........he was begging and literally sobbing that he wanted to go back too! His godmother said she doesnt know many 12 year olds who WANT to go to school!!!

sunnydelight · 05/01/2009 06:21

Well mine don't go back until 28th January - but then again it's Summer holidays here

ABudafulSightWereHappyTonight · 05/01/2009 06:34

I don't want DS to go back today either. And I have DH off with flu.

Best go and shower I suppose!

randomcupsoftea · 05/01/2009 06:54

loads of snow - shame this wasn't during the hols

Threadworm · 05/01/2009 07:04

I'm pleased that my boys are going back today (and that DH will be back in the office). We've had a good time at home together but I want my space back now.

Actually, I hope it is today that they go back. As usual I am the mother who has lost the piece of paper with dates on, and I am just taking a wild guess at the date. If I drive of quickly from the school gates, DS will have to stay there, won't he?

Ripeberry · 05/01/2009 09:02

Our neighbour is like the OP i think. Her kids (5 of them) are outside right now having a big snowball fight in their school uniforms and they go to the same school as my DD1 but their mum said she could not deprive them of a snowy day so they are staying home today.
But then, she keeps them home lots of times as she can't be bothered to get them to school most days.
And no the schools around here are NOT closed.

Ripeberry · 05/01/2009 09:04

Problem is that they all go to a tiny village school, so even if everyone else is in on time, they make the WHOLE school look bad on the attendance tables.

CharleeinChains · 05/01/2009 09:07

Mine don't go back to nursery until the 12th they have done nothing but fight and scream all holidays, it will be a huge sigh of relief when i walk out the nursey doors on the 12th.

Madmentalbint · 05/01/2009 09:11

I'd keep mine off for a snowy day too. They've only played in snow once or twice as it very rarely snows enough to play in where I live. Last time it snowed they were already at school so the HT gave them an unscheduled playtime to enjoy it!

My youngest 2 went back to school today It's been so nice to have time to chill out and to not be racing out the door every five minutes. Roll on half term!
