to be cyber-stalking a mum I know from playgroup?

Our daughters go to playgroup together. Quite innocently we arrived at conversation about mumble GF mumble and shared a look of understanding. Upon further conversation we discovered that we both use parenting forums, her Mumsnet and me elsewhere (probably won't name them, wouldn't want to get off on the wrong foot )

Anyway, blah blah blah, we share a lot of the same views, and both enjoy taking the piss out of fuckwits who we are infinitely better than

So I've been trying to find her on here and have tracked her down but to my dismay she has no public profile so I couldn't read her past posts. I almost electrocuted myself crying into my keyboard sob sob

Is it wrong to try to look for people you know in Real Life who are on forums? What say you?

how is that a point?

I have a perfectly good life, it just so happens that this new years eve I have the DS's with me so therefore can't go out.

If you have no partner, and no childcare (pretty hard to find most nights of the year let alone NYE) then I think you'll find an oline piss-up is a pretty good substitute.

Certainly beats stalking someone............

ScottishMummy · 31/12/2008 22:42

no points for you though NP.a mere cut and paste hardly constitutes searing wit or originality.

NewPork · 31/12/2008 22:43

Still think it is a good line.

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 31/12/2008 22:43

so what are YOU doing here then if it's such a good line ???

SalLikesCoffee · 31/12/2008 22:43

I suspect I might know the answer to that one, choccynutter...

Deemented · 31/12/2008 22:45

I'm sorry, but i am just pissing myself here at the thought of Faerie on netmums or bounty...

MrsKrabappel · 31/12/2008 22:46

Well I am intermittently shitting and vomitting.
How abotu you guys?

ScottishMummy · 31/12/2008 22:47

i dont actually know what netmum or bounty are- only ever posted MN

Deemented · 31/12/2008 22:48

Oh Scottishmummy, you haven't lived....

TrippingTheLightFanjTastic · 31/12/2008 22:48

I suspect there may be a little deliberate troublemaking going on. (I hate shouting "troll" ).

Pressing MN buttons, no lack of spirit, posting AIBU, use of smilies, pushing off anfter lighting the blue touchpaper... this is no newbie... she doesn't hail from netnmums or bounty.

ScottishMummy · 31/12/2008 22:48

eugh,MrsKrabappel that is rotten -NoroVirus?

SalLikesCoffee · 31/12/2008 22:48

The thing with searching to see what someone posts, however innocent, is that, in my opinion anyway, it shows there's something, well, a little wrong with you.

It's like stalking someone, following them from a safe distance as they go about their day, doing their shopping, buying stamps at the post office... you get the idea.

They might not be doing anything secretive, and will willingly tell you what they've been up to all day etc, but there's something not quite right with you wanting to do it in the first place.

Dottoressa · 31/12/2008 22:49

Why is NewPork being picked on? All she said was it's a good line. Is that any reason to get at her?

MrsKrabappel · 31/12/2008 22:50

God knows, I have no idea what the norovirus is?

Deemented · 31/12/2008 22:54

Faerie is no troll, i can assure you....

TrippingTheLightFanjTastic · 31/12/2008 22:55

Only one previous post...?

Deemented · 31/12/2008 22:58

I know Faerie from 'over there'

expatinscotland · 31/12/2008 22:59

DD2 has a rotovirus.

AND an ear infection.

DS is only 8 weeks old and though most nights he sleeps through he's not reliable for that.

And DH is at work and won't be home till around 11.30.

So yep, I'm sat here blethering not stalking and have just cracked open a bottle of Loch Fyne Ale.

ScottishMummy · 31/12/2008 23:00

Norovirus viral illness is the most common cause of infectious gastroenteritis (diarrhoea and vomiting) particularly at winter.highly infectious and horrible

ScottishMummy · 31/12/2008 23:03

rotavirus is nasty.shame.poor wee lassie

TeenyTinyTorya · 31/12/2008 23:50

Well she'd find it out soon enough, Littleducks.

I've searched for people's posts when I've found them interesting before, but I wouldn't advocate getting obsessively stalkery over it.

faeriemoo · 01/01/2009 00:24

Well happy new year ladies.

Seriously, I was joking. I did want to see her latest posts, but only so I could see which boards are worth looking at as I'm finding the number of forums quite daunting. I wasn't actually planning on stalking her

Tripping the light - this was no troll attempt, honestly, just gauging what some people are like, trying to work out who's like what, what the forums are like. I like that you can swear, that's always good, doesn't seem overly moderated. Still a little uneasy over the Daily Mail connection but hey...!

I was bored earlier this evening as my parents have taken the kids (7 month old's first night away sob), now it's just me and the breast pump.

Faeriemoo isn't a troll. Can be no one else with that username. I no her from the pink place. Hi Faerie.

S1ur · 01/01/2009 00:26

i think it is worse to find someone on a forum and then stalk them in real life. i've done both, but only one ended in a court case.

justunaccomplishedsanta · 01/01/2009 00:28

That was "know" btw.
