To expect my nanny NOT to feed my two year old a McDonalds Happy Meal?

I know it's not the end of the world and he is nearly three but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect her to ASK me, at least, before takes him out and stuffs him full of chicken nuggets and chips for lunch.

I'm not against McD's as such, but he's still really little and there's no need to take him there yet - it's not a bloody treat - as she seems to think.

I think that's what has annoyed me most. It's just food, I don't want him associating it with being a "treat" outing.

I was served up pigs bollocks ](in a sauce that seemed to be made entirely of butter and urm... ore butter) in restaurant in Marseilles once. Just thought I'd share!

Pantofino · 18/12/2008 15:34

I had cow's cheek in a tapas bar in Spain. Strangely it was very chewy

alors · 18/12/2008 15:34

Pantofino - do you not eat steak tartare? Yum.

Pantofino · 18/12/2008 15:35

And my dad was served sliced, dried, .....wait for it......donkey's knob in China. He said it was nice!

Pantofino · 18/12/2008 15:36

Alors, NO! I have tried to persuade myself to try it, but just can't bring myself to.....raw meat - Yack!

my ex mb FREAKED when i took charges to maccy d's - she was so cross with me, and yelled at me

but as she didnt tell me she didnt like it, thought we would go there for a treat/something to do

I told her not to be so rude to me, and I obv wouldnt go there again, but if dhe didnt tell me, how am i meant to know

her excat words were, "dont EVER give or take my children there again. I prefer you to feed them decent food, and go to zizi'z/ask etc and spend £25 on a decent meal"

so next week, i did

but ...................

about a year or so later, when i got there on a monday there was a maccy d's toy in the car

i dont think maccy d's is fab food, but to given once in a while wont kill them imho

"The difference is that since childcarers are poorly paid for the job they do, they are generally less skilled than the job requires, hence the need to micromanage. "

erhmmm...as a first-time mother I had no training at all

so what were my qualifications to micro-manage my childminder who had reared several children of her own, looked after well over 50 mindees and done any number of courses/had any number of certificates in anything from first aid to child development?

she was a damn sight more professional than I was

it is very rare these days to find unskilled childminders

they do get Ofsted-inspected, you know

My sil brought up her two dcs to think mcds is the devil's food. Now classmates keep inviting them to birthday parties at Maccdys, which is proving a bit awkward. The first time she was invited my niece (6) piped up. "Why are you having their party there? Don't you know that food is revolting plastic rubbish that will give you cancer and only idiots eat it etc."

for SIL, standing next to her at school gates and receiving daggers looks from the mum of birthday child.

piscesmoon · 18/12/2008 16:11

Serves her right jujumaman!

Anna8888 · 18/12/2008 16:13

(cory - the conversation is about nannies)

cory · 18/12/2008 16:15

sorry, I must have misunderstood. I understood you to say that a good nanny would be properly trained and that other kinds of childcarers might not. My mistake.

Anna8888 · 18/12/2008 16:16

No, nothing like that. I think you need to read the thread before commenting

cory · 18/12/2008 16:17

I did. But clearly badly.

jujumaman · 18/12/2008 16:35

At least she 'fesses up to it and giggles, pisces

needmorecoffee · 18/12/2008 16:43

what does mb mean?

SilentTerror · 18/12/2008 16:44

My dcs love MacDonalds Dont go that often, maybe every month.
So what?
So many more important things to worry about, imo.
If Nanny feeding him cannabis,I might be more inclined to be angry.
To be honest, after having four DCS,I couldn't care less about who eats what.
If I had spent the past 19 yrs worrying about bloody MacDonalds I would be even more psychotic than I am now

Q. How do i micro manage the man who cleans my wheelie bin?

I only want him to use non-bio, organic soap, so as not to fade the plastic

tankie · 18/12/2008 16:56

needmorecoffee - mb means "mummy boss", a nanny employer.

My butler blardy farking used the front door last week and forgot to come in from behind! I had him beaten soundly and left him no supper at all not a bit! Serves him right, he won't do THAT again in a hurry and if he do he don't get no Christmas box of mints!
