To have had a go at these 'mums' in the playground?

It's DDs christmas party today and we were asked to take crisps in. So I sent DD with a paper plater with four packets of crisps on it (still in their bags obviously) covered with cling foil.

When we got to the school gate DD ran off to play and then returned to say I had to take the crisps off the plate as her friends were taking the mick out of her. All of the other kids that had taken crisps had just taken a multipack bag of crisps in as they are.

I told her not to be silly and to cut a long story short, when I walked her to her line I heard one of the other mothers saying to her son "give me your biscuits so I can present them on a plate nicely with clingfilm" and she and a few other mums started laughing.

DD was looking daggers at me so I asked the woman if she had a problem and she said "no, I just don't like the way you have to try and go one better than everyone else all the time". All this because I put the crisps on a bloody plate??

This is why I hate playgrounds...

poshwellies · 15/12/2008 12:19

Why did you put the crisp on a plate?

ComeWhineWithMe · 15/12/2008 12:20

Some people are just sad ,if this is all they have in life to get worked up about you should feel sorry for the silly bints.

Some parents go back to playground mentality when they are dropping /picking their kids up.

mysterymoniker · 15/12/2008 12:20

is it because you can't spell?

mrsdisorganised · 15/12/2008 12:21

Ignore them!

innapropriate · 15/12/2008 12:21

I just thought it looked nicer than simply taking the bag in. I wanted to make an effort. Wish I hadn't bothered.

They sound vile.

lucykate · 15/12/2008 12:21

they were a bit rude, yes, but have to ask, do you go one better than everyone else?

constancereader · 15/12/2008 12:21

that is really really rude
I am flabbergasted
try to ignore though, honestly - haven't they got anything better to do?

Monkeyblue · 15/12/2008 12:21

What a stupied cow of a mother

Does it matter

She would hate it at our school some plates come with bows and ribbons attached

innapropriate · 15/12/2008 12:22

Obviously you are not aware of the correct procedure for crisp transportation, and you need to be taught a lesson.

J2O · 15/12/2008 12:22

how weird, silly woman, sounds like they have issues. yanbu. Actually, i feel quite pi**ed off on your behalf, I'd be livid if it was me, as if children don't have enough arguments between themselves without mothers getting involved.

Yanda · 15/12/2008 12:22

They were being childish, but I'm also not sure why you would put packets of crisps on a paper plate and cover them with cling film?

NorthernLurkerwithastarontop · 15/12/2008 12:23

well personally I wouldn't have put them on a plate but neither would I have dreamt of commenting on it. What is wrong with some people?

Wizzcarol · 15/12/2008 12:23

How old are these mums, twelve?

orangehead · 15/12/2008 12:23

How horrible. Best to just ignore

constancereader · 15/12/2008 12:23

yes it is particularly nasty of them to have laughed about it in front of your child.

ChopsTheDuck · 15/12/2008 12:23

must be soemthign to do witht he streeses of christmas approaching. I had a woman nearly punch me this morning for daring to park behind her.

innapropriate · 15/12/2008 12:24

Why is it so bad to put them on a plate? I honestly thought everyone would have done it the same way.

edam · 15/12/2008 12:24

They don't sound very nice people. Is there a lot of bullying at this school, by any chance?

You sound a little bit precious. Very odd to put unopened bags of crisps on a plate.

kitbit · 15/12/2008 12:24

Christ she would wet herself at ds's school. The mothers come on such occasions in full bling with wraparound sunglasses, presenting their offerings on doilies. Granny often comes along too. I know spanish people often go OTT on these things, but even so!

psychohohohoho · 15/12/2008 12:25

ignore her.....she is a 'mean girl' in grown-up version!

and next year, just send 'em in the multipack.

poshwellies · 15/12/2008 12:25

Ermm no,mine would of taken the crisps in a carrier bag .
