Ahh OK thanks babylovesshoes - I was under the impression the OPs ds was younger than a year - clearly my memory of when children have the MMR vaccine is faulty - now that I think of it it was around 2.5-3years for the first one - is that right?

13 months for the first MMR. In the states its the MMRV or MMR then the V in a different leg - ouch!

DS was 2y5m, DD 5 months. Both breast-fed. Reason not protected, however, was that turns out I hadn't had it myself, despite my mother thinking I had. Got me muddled with my sister.
HV called in a bunch of students to take a look at DD as was apparently one of the worst cases she'd seen in a while!
I think the age that a child catches chicken pox is entirely dependent upon when they're exposed to someone who has it.

Yep. Textbook 2 weeks gap. God, that was a long month.

They had it consecutively -

5 years, 3 years and 8 months. I had it at 26 whilst pg with ds1. Personally I'd vax if they got to teenage and hadn't had it but wouldn't bother before that.

Nappyaddict: DS1 was 2y+2 months, he got it at nursery, I guess. 2 weeks later when DS2 was 3.5m old he came out with some spots. Was fully breastfd, too!

DD1 was 2.7 2 weeks later DD2 got it aged 9 months then 2 weeks later i got it aged 26 i had just had a major car crash 4 weeks previous aswell resulting with broken femur and shattered knee cap, so was a right state!
