I know the P&C parking space thing can cause rucks here but i have to admit i saw red today.

Looking for parking in supermarket and see 3 women exit car with zero kids. All looked physically fit and in work clothes. No spaces for me with baby... So window rolls down after i give a little toot. Lady smiles, i smile and ask if she has any children with her. She says no so i ask if she could move her car so that i can park in the allocation p&c space. She said no (expected) and told me to fuck off. I childishly said you are being a bit of a selfish cow taking up those spaces. More abuse from her and she goes into shop.

I find a non P&C space and there is a woman parked 2 cars away with 2 little ones who she physically cant get her children in the car. I help out by watching her 2 as she gets out fo space.

Then i go and check on the car in the p&c space for carseats and for disabled badge. None of either. I report to supermarket who report to traffic attendent.

I dont think i was unreasonable.. but i did think of keying car and perhaps that would have been!

I know I shouldn't, but .
Well done for helping out the other mum.

SKYTVADDICT · 12/12/2008 22:27

YANBU in my opinion. People like that really wind me up

BananaFruitBat · 12/12/2008 22:28

I don't think P&C parking is legally enforcable like Disabled.

devoutsceptic · 12/12/2008 22:30

In private car parks the company can enforce its own rules, including clamping.

GrimmaTheNome · 12/12/2008 22:32

I think you were quite reasonable, given the woman's response. Much better than keying (which would only have made cow feel she was in the right).

Don't know if she'll be ticketed but hopefully will have been given a good telling off.

BananaFruitBat · 12/12/2008 22:33

Ah, in that case I will start reporting all the ignorant shits people who take those spaces.

I shall now get my soapbox out...

DO THESE MORONS NOT UNDERSTAND THAT IT'S GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT THE SPACES ARE CLOSE TO THE SHOP, IT'S THE EXTRA BLARDY SPACE WE NEED!

Thank you. I feel better for that.

moondog · 12/12/2008 22:34

Gosh, i key cars regularly when people piss me off like this. Most cathartic.

neenztwinz · 12/12/2008 22:34

I hate it when people think they can park in P&C spaces just cos they have a child's booster seat in the car! I have never had the balls to say anything tho, but I have always been able to get a space.

How are you anyway Awen? I think we were on ttc/preg-after-miscarriage threads together? It's a bit weird cos I thought of you randomly yesterday thinking I hadn't seen you about [crazy stalker emoticon]

What really pisses me off is people who park on the pavement so I can't get my pram past. Yesterday there was a van blocking the pavement and the driver was in the front garden of the house so I said 'is this your van? You don't have to move it but I just wanted to say I can't get my pram past and i shoulnd't have to go on the road with my pram, it is dangerous.' He said 'I'll move the van'. Great, so he walks round to the driver's side and then says to me 'if I had a pound for every time I've heard that...' as if it was so tiresome to have to always move his van for pesky pedestrians who want to use the pavement!

So I said 'Don;'t park on the f**king pavement then and you wouldn't have to hear it!'

beanieb · 12/12/2008 22:35

she told you to fuck off!

VirginBoffinMum · 12/12/2008 22:42

I think her fate was sealed when she told you to fuck off. I would have let her tyres down as well and scratched 'whore' on her paintwork. Then got arrested probably. But seriously, you did the right thing.

MamaMaiasaura · 12/12/2008 22:42

lol at crazy stalker emotion wow at the pics of your beautiful babies! Are they 7 months already?

Ds2 is almost 1 now! we are off to hosp next month as ttc again.

My DH has a spare booster seat in his car which is never used, he see's this as his meal ticket to park in the P&C even without DC in tow. YANU to report him.

MERLYPUSSEDASAFART · 12/12/2008 23:03

It really gets on my tits when people do this. It is especially difficult getting twins out of the rear of the car in a normal space as the doors have to swing quite far open to heave them over the hump of the car seat IYKWIM. I think we should display 'small child on board that needs a large space to get out of so park too close and I'll prang your car' Stickers in the rear of our vehicles. If it wasn't for the fact I quite like my car I would deffo take no prisoners.

Twiga · 12/12/2008 23:12

YANBU but I have to put my hand up and say that I've been using p&c spaces in recent weeks when I've not had the dcs with me - mainly because being heavily pg with spd and having to climb through your boot to get into the car when the peopoe either side of you park too close is far from funny - wouldn't normally though, honest!

neenztwinz · 12/12/2008 23:13

Awen, doesn't time fly when you are having such fun. Good luck ttc again. Maybe it will be twins this time

On a completely different tangent, it really pisses me off when new mums moan that there are not enough of those trolleys that you can put your baby carseat straight onto... try getting two babies out of the car and into the trolley seats, don't moan when you have to put get just one out of its car seat into the trolley seat! PFB mums just don't know how easy they have it

VirginBoffinMum · 12/12/2008 23:15

You are allowed to use P and C spaces if you are pregnant. You are with child!!! Anyway, I am currently pregnant with spd as well and I find my crutches clear most people out the way very nicely, so why not get a pair as a prop???

fruitstick · 12/12/2008 23:16

I reckon that heavily pregnant technically qualifies as 'parent and child'

neenztwinz · 12/12/2008 23:17

Just looked at my profile and realised I need a to upload a new pic of the DTs - doing it now [proud] .

In California someone won a legal case when they used a driving lane for car poolers only, by arguing that they weren't alone in the car because they were pregnant. I think this is an excellent argument!

neenztwinz · 12/12/2008 23:27

Not sure about that one VirginBoffinMum!

Twiga · 12/12/2008 23:34

That's a relief, have felt slightly guilty but really couldn't face that kind of climb through the car again. Pleased to say have managed to just about avoid crutches this time due to amazing physio care. Think my other argument if commented on would be that my parking skills are seriously to pot and i genuinely need a large space to aim at!

VirginBoffinMum · 13/12/2008 08:45

Twiga - quick hijack - what did the physios do? Mine only told me to go away and do core stability exercises, which I do anyway and which I had been doing for a year before even getting pregnant. She also told me to stand against the wall and roll and tennis ball up and down my bum. This has done absolutely nothing to help.
