to be slightly threatened by "lady" on train platform being so agressive at 6.30am?

Get early train from very cold sticks where I live to central london. Platform is always busy but I tend to be there a bit early so wait in same place on platform every day.

This "lady" seems to have taken a random dislike to me. She decided that I am in her way when she walks up platform to the far end where she waits. Recently she's been tutting and shaking her head as she passes, making big deal out of walking around me!
Seems to expect me to move out of her way when I see her coming- which Im not going to do for anyone or I'd be second guessing everyone as they walk up platform!

Yesterday she actually pushed into me as she passed me on on another wise vacant platform. No idea why... Im 6months pregnant with bad back and SPD and could easily fall with a light push and in this case, it could be straight onto the train tracks.

Today she just looked right at me and rolled eyes...

Is she a mad-woman or AIBU to feel threatened by her unecessary and weirdly agressive so early in morning

She is a mad woman.

lottiejenkins · 11/12/2008 08:37

Isnt there a member of staff that you could talk to about this? She does sound a bit barking to me! You have my sympathies!!

JustKeepSingingCarols · 11/12/2008 08:38

She is a mad woman!
and you are BU but i think for your own safety you best tay out of her way!

weirdo!

MaryBeWaiting · 11/12/2008 08:38

Eek! Definitely mad! - I would say something to the station staff!

As a matter of interest, some rail companies offer a free upgrade to 1st class for pregnant women. Does yours? Have you enquired about it?

meglet · 11/12/2008 08:39

scary & barking. I'd be freaked out too.

crazyloon1 · 11/12/2008 08:40

Think you need to mention to the staff if anyone around. it's harrassment.

Who knows what she might do next?

Talk to them and ask them to watch what happens, they will see for themselves probably, or you could wait somewhere safe not in the usual place.

she sounds bonkers tbh.

BouncingTinsel · 11/12/2008 08:43

She sounds like a freak. Have you tried positioning yourself further back from the platform?
Normally I would suggest challenging this woman but considering your condition I think discretion is the better part of valour. If you can't get any help from station staff I would position yourself far from the edge of the platform until she has passed you.

sagacious · 11/12/2008 08:45

She sounds bonkers
I'd move to another carriage (I am a wimp and couldn't take the hassle)

Ronaldinhio · 11/12/2008 08:45

God, she is mad and you are in a vunerable state (spd and bad back; not pregnancy )

Do you have someone you can travel with? Ordinarily I'd suggest asking her what her problem is but if she's a nutter you're preggers and alone I'd probably steer clear

YANBU

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 11/12/2008 08:46

Phew. glad Im not being hormonally weird about it...

Got an upgrade card but its only supposed to be used if there arent enough cheap seats left.... might just sit in First Class anyway.

Need to probably stand else where- but feels like giving in to her behaviour - but equally need to be safe..

OP posts:
DoubleBluff · 11/12/2008 08:50

i woud just stand away from her as she seems unhinged, not worth making a point out of it

Ronaldinhio · 11/12/2008 08:54

maybe she has issshooos with pregnant ladies?
Could be a horrible backstory where her family were crushed by a pregnant lady falling on them at a train station...

crazyloon1 · 11/12/2008 08:54

yes there is no point trying to prove a poitn with someone nuts

she won't appreciate it

crazyloon1 · 11/12/2008 08:54

lol Ron

dinny · 11/12/2008 08:58

sounds demented - does she look like she's going into work? is she old/young - describe the weird one please

TheProvincialLady · 11/12/2008 08:58

There was a mad woman like this at my yokel station. Is she about 5" tall and has a very severe fringe?!

You do need to keep yourself safe first and foremost. Complain to staff if necessary and don't confront her.

Trifle · 11/12/2008 09:02

Report her to station staff !!! You're all having a laugh aren't you. What is she going to report, that a lady rolled her eyes and tutted loudly at her. If you're not prepared to confront her yourself then move to an alternative area of the platform.

tiredemma · 11/12/2008 09:02

ProvincialLady- your description sounds like me. Only I dont get the train.

crazyloon1 · 11/12/2008 09:04

Lol at Mrs Pontipine at PL's station

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 11/12/2008 09:05

My husband travels with me occasionally but he doesnt need to go to work so early all the time.

Think I should just keep out of her way...

She looks normal(whatever that can really mean) and respectable, business woman...

Strangely she is quite short and has a fringe I think... hard to remember anyhting but her menancing eyes and the excess of revolting perfume that she wears!

Clearly weirdo inside though

OP posts:
crazyloon1 · 11/12/2008 09:05

Trifle - we all believed her when she told us she got shoved by a nutter. I don't see why railway staff wouldn't. Imo there are more nutters evident on trains than anywhere else in britain.

Bucharest · 11/12/2008 09:11

Are you standing on her spot? I've noticed weirdos at train stations like to have their own place....I'd mention it to the staff as well.
Crazyloon- It's not just the UK, here in Italy, stations have nutter magnets attached to the outside.

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 11/12/2008 09:14

Not standing on her spot- we both get on different carriages.

Im just on the platform waiting and apparently in her way as she makes her ways (power walks in understatement) up to "Her spot"....

Thats whys it mad... My non-pregnant/achy self wants to confront her and ask her issue but I wont for fear of ending up on the electric rail!

PartOfTheHumphreysGroup · 11/12/2008 09:16

Just sit in first class all the time! I did! So much nicer. And the upgrade pass doesn't say it's only if no cheap seats left does it? Mine didn't anyway.

She does sound weird, maybe you trod on her foot one day or something. Next time you see her have a good stretch as she walks past and accidentally knock her hat off.

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 11/12/2008 09:19

You are right - no mention of the terms on the pass.... Will do that

!st class seats are much more comfy for my back and wider so if I get a heffer sitting next to me I dont sit at weird angle!
