ITV news......it's The Beatles all over again because 4 girls were crushed in a stampede....

Poor girls.

Don't like JLS and don't particularly like Beatles either but is it not a bit much to make that kind of comparison?

well..it was quite small, and very sweaty. No alcohol around but LOTS of tabs. Iwas too young and impressionable, but DID know how to dance and dress. Baggies with a white tee-shirt and purple braces. Yay! We arrived about 11 on the bus from M/c and stayed all night, dancing, drinking fruit juices and going outside for breaks. Got first bus back and sat in Piccadilly Gardens for about 2 hours chatting and boasting..then home to bed to sleep all day. The wonders and freedoms of being 17. Gimme!!

moondog · 09/12/2008 23:32

Brill!
Was it never a boozy scene then?

Pan · 09/12/2008 23:34

not in Wigan. People Could be a bit pissed BUT it was soo energetic that even if someone had drunk they would sweat it off anyway. The casino didn't serve alchohol. It waqs about being young, dabcing, showing off, and getting ripped to the tits on speed.

HolyGuacamole · 09/12/2008 23:35

Where I live, there is a cult following for Northern Soul. I know a young guy who prides himself on getting his quiff (excuse me if it's not called a quiff, it just looks like one) as perfect as possible. And he spends a fortune on mega rare N Soul records.

with no thought for typing skills!!

roundcornvirgin · 09/12/2008 23:38

I thought tabs were cigarettes! Did they have drugs in the olden days then?

Pan · 09/12/2008 23:38

quiff yes - mix of R&B, Rock n' roll, soul and Motown. Soo danceable.

Pan · 09/12/2008 23:40

Nope. Drugs were invented in 1981.

roundcornvirgin · 09/12/2008 23:42

Thought so

PingpingsatonSantasface · 10/12/2008 09:09

Of course the crowd was rough the concert was in Croydon CoffeeCrazedMama

TBH I think JLS are great and very sexy

CoffeeCrazedMama · 10/12/2008 10:21

Ping Ping - many of them were from dd's school.

themoon66 · 10/12/2008 10:22

What or who are JLS?

PingpingsatonSantasface · 10/12/2008 11:13

CoffeeCrazedMama are you from Croydon? Sorry if you are I just know alot of people in the area that are rough that went to try and get into the concert

Themoon66 JLS are a group that are in the final of the Xfactor they are very hot

PingpingsatonSantasface · 10/12/2008 11:15

May I also say I know some people that live in the good area's of Croydon so not all people are rough.

matildax · 10/12/2008 11:28

jls compared to the beatles???????
jesus christ, what is this world coming to

in all honesty i am sick of all these manufactured pop groups. load of absolute tripe.
i do like leona lewis though, and will young, so perhaps i am just a little bit of a hypocrite.

CoffeeCrazedMama · 10/12/2008 12:17

Don't worry Ping Ping - dd just goes to school there! She and dd1 always moaning about Croydon!

wasabipeanut · 10/12/2008 12:22

JLS struck me as nice but nothing special. How they have made the final beats me. Ditto the Irish lad whose name I can't spell.

I thought Diana was ace and sulked when she got booted.

Alexandra is a shoo in now.

matildax · 10/12/2008 12:27

wasabigpeanut...... i thought the same. the irish lad is bollocks!! dp thinks hes resembles a dirty elf!! plus i dont think his singing is anything special. i think hes getting the under 7's vote,(my dd2 is 6 and she likes him, because he sang high school bleeding musical!!! aarrrrrggggghhhh!!!!! (simon cowell is a clever man)
and the grannys vote also.
jls, ok but do we really really really need another bloody tosser boy band????????

CrackopentheBaileys · 10/12/2008 12:38

JLS are ok (or JSL AS Margherita Taylor hilariously called them the other day on the radio..... isn't it her job to get that right?!)

They are no Boyz To Men by any stretch of the imaginatination, nor Beatles at that!)

X factor gets a little less credible every year, with credible talented acts leaving before old men who can't sing but 'hey they've got a great sob story' wife dead, cat's only got one leg etc etc

oH x fACTOR.
No wonder.
Would rather mate energetically with a trio of syphilitic baboons that watch such nonsense.

Have nominated you for quote of the week for that one moondog, very well put.

HolyGuacamole · 10/12/2008 12:51

Agree about Wolf Boy (Ogheonnnnnnnn - or however you spell it)....all this acting all sexy with the dancers too...yuckity yuck!

MrsMattie · 10/12/2008 12:52

lol@Beatles comparisons. JLS really are shite.

PingpingsatonSantasface · 10/12/2008 15:22

The is some good schools there for sure. My friends little ones go to Lindin Lodge the private school and the older one to Croydon High which are both very good schools.
