Just spent 30 minutes out side in the freezing darkness scraping dog shit of the buggy wheels AGAIN.

Third time this week.

I have now graduated from planning to make little pirate flags to stick in rogue poos (it amused me anyway) to undergoing rigorous ninja training so that I can seek out the recalcitrant owners in the dark before the dawn and administer some broken limbs and harsh name calling.

Thoughts?

Count me in (and another vote for making them eat it). I hate this time of year - we live a few blocks from a common and as soon as it gets a bit dark/cold, the local dog owners stop going that far and let their beasts do their needs on the pavement on our street. Which then gets covered in leaves. And then trodden on. Yuck.

StretchmarkSantaClaws · 10/12/2008 12:37

Should I google 'white dog poo'?

StretchmarkSantaClaws · 10/12/2008 12:38

Ooooh something to do with dogs not eating bones as much, so not as much calcium in their diet!!!

StretchmarkSantaClaws · 10/12/2008 12:40

Ha! Another productive day in the Stretch household!!!

evenmoremiserablethanbefore · 10/12/2008 12:41

hehehe
so glad I found this thread to take my mind off my health problems!!

we regularly have to clean some dirty b dogshite up from the front of our house.I spy through my bedroom window and when I catch someone looking suspicous and without their little green bag,I run downstairs and get a closer look.
I once bellowed out of my bedroom window to a man who walked away after his dog had just done a dollop the size of a camels!
he looked sheepish and walked back to the turd and produced a bag from his pocket .-HA
I rang the local authority demanding a poo box be put on the lamp post and after arguing about who owned that strip of land, they eventually argreed to look into it.....2 years later a poo box appeared across the road-Result!
Yet there is now a little old dear who still walks on this side of the road and lets her dog shit right outside my gate-I,ve got my beady eye on her!
my 3 kids play on the path.I have lost count how many times I,ve had to scrape the plop from their soles....ugh
and there are some, who after picking the poo up fling the bag over the school fence!!
they absolutely piss me off.
going to check out the path now, that old lady has walked past twice-dog must be constipated

AlistairSim · 10/12/2008 12:45

Count me in but only if I get to wear some kind of super-hero costume.

Any excuse to dress up.

CrackopentheBaileys · 10/12/2008 12:47

hmmm why wouldnt they eat bones ebough anymore? Have our litte furry friends palates really becom so much more sophisticated since the 80's? (Thats whn I last remember seeing white poo, down the alley next to my house....always thought it was poodle poo!)

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 10/12/2008 12:48

By the way I'm a dog owner and I always clear up - its terrible for me as well as my dim dog walks through poo on the pavement if I'm not quick enough. I had to clean some other dog's poo out from between her pads the other day with a baby wipe. Probably the worst thing I've ever had to do.

needmorecoffee · 10/12/2008 12:57

I can't think of any grassy area where its 'safe' to tread without looking. Let alone have a picnic.

rebelmulledwine72 · 10/12/2008 12:58

OMG, I would never, ever, ever let my dog shit on the pavement / in someone's garden / in the park and not pick it up - that is absolutely revolting.

My dog did an "unexpected" poo the other day when out jogging with my dh (dh was doing the actual jogging, obviously) and my dh didn't have any more bags on him so he came home and then drove out again to clear up the poo.

Aren't there huge fines for people who don't pick up after their dogs?

I cannot get over the idea that I would stand there watching my dog shit on the pavement and then just walk away from it - surely they're shitting up the pavements for themselves too? Or do they walk a different route every day until enough time has passed for the poo to disintregate?

Ugh, ugh, ugh, just the thought of getting dog shit on my shoes or buggy or - even worse - ds's shoes is revolting.

Get the local paper involved in a name-and-shame campaign with photos of the owners standing by as dogs do their thing.

And remember to get angry at the OWNERS, not the dogs. If anything, the poor dogs deserve our sympathy as they've got such idiot owners...

ThePellyandMe · 10/12/2008 12:59

We've got that book purpleduck its called 'The Mole Who knew it was None of his Business' and at the end he goes and craps on the dogs head. Its fab

Anyway, count me in. There is so much dog crap on the road going to the school. And everyone knows there's a bloody school down there, but they still don't pick it up.

On a more positive note, when we walked to school the other day there was a really big dog poo right in the middle of the path. The next day it was gone so I'm assuming a more responsible dog owner picked it up. My mum does this if she sees dog poo on the street. As she's got a dog and bags with her all the time she will pick any dogs poo up rather than leave it for someone to tread in.

CharCharGaboriaInExcelsisDeo · 10/12/2008 13:02

I thought there was no more white dog poo as companies were banned from putting chalk in dog food anymore? Maybe I'm mistaken.

evenmoremiserablethanbefore · 10/12/2008 13:08

dear pellyandme...
your Mum is a Saint !
I wish there were more people like your Mum.
I know I,m mard, but I,m not a dog owner and just couldnt bring myself to pick a hot fresh turd up...bleurgh
babies diarrhea nappies,no problem....but dog poo....sorry.
your Mum deserves a medal

cheeseandsproutssarnie · 10/12/2008 13:11

i'll join.we phoned local council and said it was getting stupid.they sent us stickers to put up but said we had to have photographic evidence of an owner not picking up before they could do anything!

i always carry spare bag for dog owners that do the 'i forgot my bag innocent face'

totalmisfit · 10/12/2008 13:26

can i join? absolutely sick of dog owners in North Norfolk

It's like a sport or something... let's see who's pooch can leave the biggest pile of shit outside someone's family home

oh, and the beach... we're lucky enough to live by a gorgeous stretch of coastline and these nameless, faceless morons actively encourage their dogs to defecate all over it.

In London it was bad enough, but at you could at least reason that between the hyperdermic needles and the festering boxes of fried chicken, what difference did a little excrement make?

Here it feels like they're deliberately trying to make a lovely place unliveable... and they're all lovely middle aged middle class people, with some strange faeces related compulsion, it would seem

purpleduckUnderTheMistletoe · 10/12/2008 16:30

evenmore

I do that -

Can I be sainted too?

I am forever cleaning up other dogs poo from where we tie our dogs up at school (well away from the gate, before anyone says anything ), and in the field where my kids play.
I reckon I would rather pick it up than scrape it off dc's shoes.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 10/12/2008 17:49

I have nightmares about been caught short with no poo bag. I once took dog to pick dd up from school and was nearly there and realised we had no bags with us. It was an anxious walk home, though dog has only done a poo on a walk once! She saves it all for our backgarden much to DH's delight.

mynewnickname · 10/12/2008 20:15

Hilarious thread - have been LOL.

It's one of my pet hates (oh god dreadful wording there)...I spend the whole time on the walk to school looking out for poo and trying to dodge it.

Love the idea of chalking round it and adding a message.

I also hate it in Autumn when there are lots of leaves that do a good impression of dog shit and so you have to be even more careful.

OP do you live in my village. I spend every day walking to school saying watch the poo every 30 seconds.

WE have posters everywhere but nobody takes any notice.

fizzbuzz · 10/12/2008 21:52

I once saw an advert about dog poo, and clearing it up.

It was from a London council. Some guy came out of his house first thing in the morning as if he was going to work. They then filmed him coming through the gate of his house onto the pavement. Then they filmed him taking off his trousers, whilst the camera panned to his head. He then squatted down (although you couldn't see his bottom half) and did lots of straining faces and grunting.

The catch line went something like...You wouldn't do it, so don't let your dog"

Was very funny...........

J2O · 10/12/2008 22:05

lmao @ this thread
am looking for the mole book for dd1 for christmas
