All peas are disgusting, like beans. All fluffy like cotton wool on the inside... urgh.

pushchair · 01/12/2008 19:41

I prefer frozen good quality petis pois.
But I also like this

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 01/12/2008 19:43

pushchair- i have to agree with you there- that is a lovely mushy pea!!

Mushy peas or any peas that come in a tin are yucky yucky!
Fresh or frozen peas lightly steamed are yummy yummy!

GooberKingWenceslas · 01/12/2008 19:47

Has it really come to this????

(Petit pois.)

thean · 02/12/2008 15:58

Mushy peas rank. Petit pois are lovely but they have to be petit pois and not garden peas.

Pinkjennybellrock · 02/12/2008 16:00

Peas are vile. In any form.

EHM · 02/12/2008 16:12

mushy peas don't always come from a tin. They can be bought fozen too I love mushy peas, but I am northern. Garden Peas from a tin are rank. Peas, or should i say petit pois are ok.

kayzisexpecting · 02/12/2008 16:38

Mushy peas are the only good peas!!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 02/12/2008 17:00

kay- looks like i'm winning this debate!!!

In fact to celebrate i think i'm going to have petit pois with my chicken and chips tonight!! Yummy!!!

Hulababy · 02/12/2008 17:02

Mushy peas are essential for fish and chips!

kayzisexpecting · 02/12/2008 17:04

I am so tempted by fish and chips tonight, BUT can't be bothered to walk up there.

AlanPartridgeInAPearTree · 02/12/2008 17:44

Ooooooooh I bet there is a north south divide on this one.

Am a yorkshire lass who LOVES mushy peas now living in exile in Kent where very few places have them. All DHs Kent family think they are wierd. Petits pois are good too, in their place, but no substitute with F&C

At school in Northumberland in the 70/80s we had something else called steeped peas, dried peas, still rather grey looking, having been "steeped" in water. Great with lashings of vinegar

TinselianAstra · 02/12/2008 17:54

Big peas (garden peas is what it says on my bag of frozen ones) are better than petit pois.

At uni one of the delicacies we were sometimes given was 'mushy pea fritters'. Brown on the outside, luminous green on the inside.

ChasingSquirrels · 02/12/2008 17:58

mushy peas are vile, normal peas are nice (though I prefer petit pois). Am northern by birth and upbringing.
yummy yummy mushy peas blergh

AlanPartridgeInAPearTree · 03/12/2008 12:45

By the way, anyone from East London? What is that green stuff they serve in Pie and Mash shops? They call it Liquor, tho not sure on spelling as it is some years ago I went in one. The menu was various pies, or sausage, mash, peas, onion gravy and "liquor"

when I asked the girl on the counter "what is the green liquid everyone's having on their meals" she just said "Its liquor", like I was daft, no other explanation. I have always wondered, is it pea juice or summat?? (didn't risk trying some as meal was lovely and did not want to spoil it)

(pale green milky substance full of green flecks)

harpsichordcarrier · 03/12/2008 12:51

it's sort of parsley sauce I think

harpsichordcarrier · 03/12/2008 12:52

(not from E London I hasten to add but lived in Leytonstone for a few years)

CountessDracula · 03/12/2008 12:52

i don't like petit pois
they are too small
normal peas, bird's eye
that's the pea for me

harpsichordcarrier · 03/12/2008 12:52

Ingredients - Liquor
400ml Chicken stock
2 tbsp Arrow root
4 Tbsp finely chopped fresh parsley
1 tbsp white wine vinegar
4 Tbsp potato water

yum yum

AlanPartridgeInAPearTree · 03/12/2008 12:52

Thanks HArpsi, I did wonder about that

CountessDracula · 03/12/2008 12:52

i don't think I have eaten mushy peas - they sound most unappetising though

themoon66 · 03/12/2008 12:53

Another Northerner here voting for the Mushy Peas.

onthewarpath · 03/12/2008 12:54

I prefer petits pois. I have tried mushy peas for the first time when I was 30 and thought it tasted somehow "smoky". I have not renewed the experience, maybe I should, just to make really sure.

aDad · 03/12/2008 13:00

Petits Pois for me.

Cassegrain brand because the ad in France featured a cute bunny wearing shades.
