yanbu - why should your mum be allowed to tell your dd off and you not be allowed the same right to tell HER that her noise isnt nice ?

45 mins of crying for goodness sake that's ridiculous.Have she got depression of some kind? (trying to find some kind of reason for it)

piscesmoon · 26/11/2008 16:00

If it was my mother I would be really concerned about her-not annoyed!

Miyazaki · 26/11/2008 16:03

I have a wailer in my family. It is very manipulative and it is annoying.

Is this her normal response to any kind of words being had?

drpumpkinbread · 26/11/2008 16:06

she often just goes quite and says nothing and broods

OP posts:
piscesmoon · 26/11/2008 16:10

Have you tried asking her why she goes quiet and what she broods about?

Rhubarb · 26/11/2008 16:12

She cried for 45mins? You stupid foolish woman! If you are for real, there is something clearly going on with your mother. She is suffering and it's got nothing to do with your dd.

Try hugging her and asking what's wrong.

drpumpkinbread · 26/11/2008 16:13

well she's a bit of a nutter!

but i suppose i was a bit snappy

OP posts:
Miyazaki · 26/11/2008 16:18

So, the crying was unusual. Did she just go off and cry by herself? Did you ask her what was up?

drpumpkinbread · 26/11/2008 16:21

i asked her whats up and she goes, oh you said my singing is horrible, you should never stop someone from singing because it means they are happy!

told you shes nutter!

OP posts:
piscesmoon · 26/11/2008 16:21

I think she needed a big hug and a cup of tea while you asked her what it was all about. It would seem much kinder than posting on here so that everyone can tell you that she is a horrible woman!

Rhubarb · 26/11/2008 16:21

Nutter or not, to cry for 45mins, to sit and be broody, the woman is clearly hurting over something. Are you always this dismissive of people's feelings?

AllieBongo · 26/11/2008 16:23

i love you rhubarb

Miyazaki · 26/11/2008 16:23

How old is she? Could she be menopausal?

Rhubarb · 26/11/2008 16:24

Allie, are you sure you love me or do you just wanna nail me?

AllieBongo · 26/11/2008 16:24

i'm 38 weeks pregnant. I couldn't nail anything even if I wanted to

Is that because your belly won't fit under the desk?

AllieBongo · 26/11/2008 16:31

it won't. i'm also stroppy as hell. i couldn't even muster much niceness for my cyber friends

MorrisZapp · 26/11/2008 16:41

Pointless question without knowing:

A) What was involved in her telling off of your DD

B) What was involved in your telling off of DM

C) How you can watch your mother cry for 45 mins - is this normal? I cry if I see my mum cry for 45 seconds. I haven't seen her cry for more then 5 minutes since the last death in our family.

YABU to ask this while supplying such scant info about an apparently very odd situation.
