The hospital has indeed got Baby Friendly status and did at the time; you couldn't miss it; they were extremely proud of it. Also well known for their expertise in caring for newborns with health problems. I was in the ante-natal ward for weeks before with both my pregnancies, and I met so many mums that had been referred there from other hospitals and couldn't believe their luck in finally getting there.

So yes I was certainly lucky as far as that went. Couldn't fault my care in any way, in fact. And also very pleased both with the ante-natal course (NHS), the health visitor and the support offered by the local clinic after birth. They ran a lovely first-Mums group, too.
