so i've got a dodgey arse, back, neck and ears and seems my health is preventing anyone giving me a job.

my arse got wrecked after giving birth 4 th degree tear followed by anal sphingter repair operation.
its lumps bumpy scared and hurts
i get urge incontinence and bad pain
and if i ever get constipation or diahorrea you better forget it.
apparently nothing can really be done about my arse fanjo except risk further surgery which could make the problems worse.

also i have back and neck pain from whiplash from being in the middle of a 3 car pile up motorway crash.
i was in a taxi not driving btw

and i also had small ear canals and frequent ear infecctions.

YANBU at all, You can't help having physical problems, and is is against the law to discriminate against people with health problems.

Do you tell potential employers about your problems?

faultybody · 18/11/2008 14:26

i don't tell them unless they ask.
sometimes you get questionaires with applications forms, sometimes you get calls from hr departments etc

OP posts:
wideratthehips · 18/11/2008 14:30

what area are you hoping to get a job in?, what did you do before your health problems?

themoon66 · 18/11/2008 14:31

What type of work are you looking for?

mumblechum · 18/11/2008 14:32

I wouldn't tell them, and would only take time of sick in the direst of circumstances.

Anna8888 · 18/11/2008 14:32

Well you need a job where you can stay at home sitting down near a loo and in the warm. Can you do something on line?

NomDePlume · 18/11/2008 14:33

Sounds bloody awful ! You poor thing.

WRT to the urge incontinence thing, would that not be difficult to manage whilst you are working ?

compo · 18/11/2008 14:34

you poor thing

Wisp · 18/11/2008 14:47

Personally, I would keep quiet about my health problems if I really wanted a job.
Once you have a job, they can't sack you just because of your health issues.

PeachyAndTheSucklingBas · 18/11/2008 14:54

those forms get sent with everything dont they?

and you know what there'll stil be posts on here on other threads saying anyone who is unemployed is lazy and doesnt want work

I will want work (well in the summer) but nobody is goin to take me either (for me its time off I need for appts for sn kiddiwinks)

keep looking faultybody and I really hope you find the right job soon, your attitude is to be admired.

faultybody · 18/11/2008 15:04

i used to work as an advisor for a retail company.
i would happily do anything though, i'm not expecting to get a job like that easily.

i try to keep quite until asked by occ health or some form or other.

urge incontinence thing, would that not be difficult to manage whilst you are working

yes, but i want to try

OP posts:
faultybody · 18/11/2008 15:06

so to those that say keep quite, do you mean lie when asked?

as i already keep quite until asked or have to fill on one of those forms.

OP posts:
faultybody · 18/11/2008 15:18

urely if i lie on the pllication form then get found out, which i'm sure will happen.

could i get sacked?

OP posts:
thisisyesterday · 18/11/2008 15:24

could you work for yourself? doing something similar to your previous position??

thisisyesterday · 18/11/2008 15:27

yes, if you lie and they find out I think they could sack you.
I Know how hard it is though, I decided not to tell potential employers about my past mental health record and suddenly got a job after forever of being turned down. it's sucky.
that said, I knew almost certainly that they wouldn't find out because I was ok by then,

your problems are a bit different though hmmm
I wonder if you could try writing to companies, instgead of just doing app forms.
write to them stating what kind of work you're looking for, but explaining your problems and how you aim to deal with them in the workplace and would they be able to offer you anything?

faultybody · 18/11/2008 15:28

could you work for yourself? doing something similar to your previous position??
not really, those sort of jobs are all about contacts etc.

have none really now

but i could work for myself but i don't know what.

OP posts:
faultybody · 18/11/2008 15:30

well tiy
if my problem where behind me i would lie.
but i know i will definatley have problems esp with my arse, so when i have to have time off etc it will be why are you getting thes problems?, well its because ive had an operation on my arse

OP posts:
faultybody · 18/11/2008 15:31

i don't think anyone will employ me tbh
and if i get a job i will probably get sacked for time off work sick

There was a money management woman on The Wright Stuff yesterday with some at home money-making suggestions - cant remember her name, but perhaps somebody else will? She has a website. Maybe see if it's linked from Channel 5? Also, have you thought about things like e-bay? We could all have a bit of a brainstorm (oops), thought shower or summat? I reckon working from home is the way to go though, although I can appreciate how frustrating that sounds.

faultybody · 18/11/2008 15:39

i wouldn't mind working from home, at least i wouldn't be claiming benefits or letting other workers down with high sickness levels

OP posts:
BouncingTurtle · 18/11/2008 15:55

There's a website, I think it is www.mumsclub.co.uk, which has business and job opportunities for mums who are looking for something they can do from home, have you tried looking there?

What about doing a proof reading course? That'll be something you can do from home.

Good luck, hope you manage to find something to suit!

mabanana · 18/11/2008 15:58

what did your previous career involve? What are your skill and talents?
Also have you had any help re your birth related injuries? Any counselling (though I am a sceptic), or talked to people with similar injuries?

PeachyAndTheSucklingBas · 18/11/2008 16:08

Firstly if you are claiming benefits then dont feel bad- youa re eactly the reason they exist (I knw its not that easy, I loathe claiming my CA).

I have no idea if its a possibility with childcare etc etc etc but could you offer to work somewhere as a trial or voluntary thing for a bit? Show them how determined you are?

Don't get too downheartened by a pile of refusals atm- it is a shite time to be looking for work regardless.

faultybody · 18/11/2008 16:35

i've had counselling didn't work.
people say to me all the time oh i had that too, i had loads of stiches.
and i feel like saying you clueless twat you don't know wht your talking about, but politely reply well i don't think it was quite the same.

thanks peachy, i might well be on benefits for the rest of my life.

thanks bt i will look
