seriously today they could wear what they wanted, dd is in reception and wore a princess dress as did most of the girls her age. an awful lot of the little girls coming out of the junior school were wearing high heels, wtf is that about?

i returned some shoes that my sister had brought dd to a cheap shoe shop called shoezone today. the ones my siter brought dd were cute little black patent ones with flowers on, but were too big, so i was goign to exchaneg them, whilst looking around i noticed thay had high heel shoes (heels about 2inches high mary jane style fronts) in a size 7 which is dd's size and she is 2 and half!

i think it looks awful and there is a big difference in dressing up princess style plastic heels and heels actualyl brought to wear on a regualr basis.

It's an uphill battle from hereonin until you don't mind her having a little heel on her shores, to actually find any bloody shoes without a heel. I have spent days of my life over the last 12 years trekking around shoe shops to find flat shoes. Have only just capitulated to 13 yr olds request for a 2 inch heel. Not judgey at all. Just concerned for children Achilles' tendons and long term welfare and posture. The more of us demand sensible shoes for our daughters, and refuse to buy the trashy things on offer, the more they will have to manufucture decent ones. NO, YABNU.

Buckets · 14/11/2008 18:50

I just think you should save some things for when you really need them. Being a teenager is so hard in so many ways - I just think wearing stupid shoes, dyeing your hair, piercings, spiderweb eye makeup, writing pretentious poetry etc is the bit that redeems itself. It's all part of finding your creative self when your former outlets for self-expression (eg colouring in, tap&modern, clarinet) are no longer cool.

onebatmother · 14/11/2008 18:52

huge at former outlets for self-expression (eg colouring in, tap&modern, clarinet)

Heated · 14/11/2008 18:54

Snob that I am, when looking at schools for dcs I did apply the shoe test.

muggglewump · 14/11/2008 18:59

I wouldn't buy them for general wear but DD has a pair of plastic ones for dressing up at home.
She has black uggs for school atm but only because I couldn't find flat leather ones in her size and she needed boots as she was complaining of having cold legs both in trousers and a skirt with tights.
We're going boot shopping next weekend and hopefully will find some this time.

muggglewump · 14/11/2008 19:00

Oh and the Uggs(fake) are for warmth, not fashion.

TheLadyEvenstar · 14/11/2008 19:03

A bit different but still along the same lines. I was in a shop the other day and saw a crop top and a THONG for ............. 6-7yr old the top said Boys Love me!

who the hell would put this on such a young child? I was looking for undies for my friends dds for xmas as she said they needed them.

MarmadukeScarlet · 14/11/2008 19:03

LOL@Heated.

TheLadyEvenstar · 14/11/2008 19:04

meant to add so glad I have 2 ds's

pointydog · 14/11/2008 22:03

there a reloads of flat boots about that aren't ugs. loads

janeite · 14/11/2008 22:08

Lol at the school "shoe test"! DD1 is 13 and has just got her first pair of heels; about an inch and a half on a pair of ankle boots. This is because she is a size 7 and we couldn't find any children's ones to fit, so ended up in M&S where the heeled ones were the cheapest. I loathe seeing little girls in heels: it looks "cheap" imho.

pointydog · 14/11/2008 22:13

I looked for boots for dd1 (12), sixe 6, last weekend. Loads of flat ones

mymblemummy · 14/11/2008 23:33

YANBU, children should be able to run, and skip and jump. Let them start crippling their feet when they are teenagers, if they must.

I wouldn't have believed this if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, but at the Earls Court Baby Show last month, there was a stall selling high heels for BABIES.

They were booties, made in leopard patterns, tiger patterns, sickly pink, etc, with high heels attached. The heels wouldn't support any weight - they were just to make a statement - which would be:

"I have too much money, absolutely no taste or common sense, and am happy for my precious baby to wear miniature hooker's shoes."

Revolting.

wehaveallbeenthere · 14/11/2008 23:50

I hope I did this right. If you hate heels on little girls this will really make your head fly right off.

wehaveallbeenthere · 14/11/2008 23:51

Of course I didn't do it right, but you should be able to pull it up from that if typed in. The price is ridiculous too.

TheLadyEvenstar · 15/11/2008 07:19

Just had a look at that site OMFGG!!!!! They look like little hooker shoes especially the Bet Lynch leopard print ones.....

BroccoliSpears · 15/11/2008 07:58

I am lost for words TLE...

BroccoliSpears · 15/11/2008 08:00

From the same site... the pee-pee teepee.

TheLadyEvenstar · 15/11/2008 08:10

Oh for gods sake.....

what can I say...DS2 has piddled more than once when I have been changing him....I wouldn't stick a cond on his bits lol

thesockmonsterofdoom · 15/11/2008 08:20

those shoes look like what you get from the bear factory.
very very wrong.
I quite like the pee pee tee pee, mind you I dont have boys so not a problem I have dealt with.

TheLadyEvenstar · 15/11/2008 08:26

TheSock, I have just been told they are cute and would look great with a little black dress!!!!!!!! fgs they are aimed at 0-6m olds....talk about the world gone mad....and we wonder why so many (I know not all) Little girls are sexually orientated at a young age....

plumandolive · 15/11/2008 08:31

What mymblemummy said.

Apart from looking crass, they restrict movement.

I really detest with a vengeance the sexualisation of young girls; I think it's plain wrong, and parents who buy mini sexy clothes or buy bras for 5 yr olds have a lack of normal intelligence.

BroccoliSpears · 15/11/2008 08:34

I don't need a pee-pee teepee because I have trained my 6-month-old to ONLY wee on his daddy.
