NOT TO TAKE DH DRIVING POINTS?

hifi · 13/11/2008 21:32

took dh and his friend to airport today. all talking about points on licences. dh is on 3, his last 2 sets of 12 expired. he now has another set of 3.

the friend said i should take them. haven't been driving for long and obey all the rules.dh said i wouldn't get any as im so careful and thinks its a good idea. apparently "everyone does it".

well im not, frosty silence in car.

sometimes they can check who was driving (if the photo is good enough) and i think you can get into quite alot of trouble for saying it was you when it wasnt

janeite · 13/11/2008 21:35

Don't take them - it's illegal. An old man was sent to prison recently iirc for taking his son's points.

gingernutlover · 13/11/2008 21:35

no you anbu

he is bu to ask you to do this

he needs to stop getting the points

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 13/11/2008 21:35

YA so NBU. What the heck has your DH been getting so many points for anyway? Can he just not drive more carefully?

hifi · 13/11/2008 21:35

hes not though, the amount of tickets and speed cameras notices he gets is unbelievable. god knows how hes never had an accident.

elmoandella · 13/11/2008 21:37

yanbu - you can get yurself in trouble if they have photographic evidence .

nigglewiggle · 13/11/2008 21:39

It's called Perverting the Course of Justice. Drop that into the conversation the next time he suggests it!

PeachyAndTheSucklingBas · 13/11/2008 21:40

if he doesnt stop he will have an accident, and both he and the poor bastard he hits will be hurt due to excessive speed

imagine that was your child some speeding twat hit

tell him to grow up take the punishment and learn to drive

BitOfFun · 13/11/2008 21:41

My ex put me under pressure to do this. I refused, but he went on and on about it. I'm so glad I didn't though, and he is still a shit driver.

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/11/2008 21:41

last 2 sets of 12

why the hell does he get so many?

if normally for speeding - doesnt he learn?

hifi · 13/11/2008 21:43

since my mum and sister mentiond hes the only person they feel nervous about when driving ive become all neurotic when in the car with him.

friends also comment that i have picked up some of his bad habits, not speeding though.

MadameCheese · 13/11/2008 21:44

Why doesn't he learn to drive? YANBU Grrr!

tissy · 13/11/2008 21:44

yanbu

hifi · 13/11/2008 21:45

god knows how hes got them, since i went ballistic about the amount of parking fines he hides them.

i can usually suss when a mgistrates letter comes thru. he never makes it to court , just pays the fine.

OP posts:
knockedgymnast · 13/11/2008 21:45

I wouldn't do it if I were you. It'll encourage him to drive even more carelessly.

If you were to, would this 'favour' ever be returned? I mean, if you were to get 3 or 6 points, would he take the flack for you? Probably not, especially if he knew he was going to lose his license.

Thinks he's got a bit of a cheek tbh. Points most definately don't mean prizes!

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/11/2008 21:47

i thought if you got 12 points you lost your license

i would be fucked if this happened to me

i HAVE to drive to gwt to work, and for my job,no license and i wouldnt have a job

i have 3 points and i am at them

Habbibu · 13/11/2008 21:48

Oh Lord, no - don't take them. Not "everybody" does them - it's illegal, it's immoral, and if he drives that badly maybe he needs to face up to it.

hifi · 13/11/2008 21:48

im definitely not going to do it. i do find i know a lot more about road signs /markings than he does as i have only been driving 2 years. hes been driving about 28.

do drivers who have been driving for ages ever get updated?

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 13/11/2008 21:54

updated?

what do you mean?

edam · 13/11/2008 21:56

no, they don't have to do any refreshers. Not until they get to be elderly, anyway - think if you are over 75 or something you may have to but could be wrong on that.

Explains a lot, doesn't it!

Quattrocento · 13/11/2008 21:59

immoral, illegal and also slightly stupid. Most cameras now are good enough in terms of quality to photograph the driver clearly. The penalty for being caught doing this is truly severe.
