NOT TO TAKE DH DRIVING POINTS?

hifi · 13/11/2008 21:32

took dh and his friend to airport today. all talking about points on licences. dh is on 3, his last 2 sets of 12 expired. he now has another set of 3.

the friend said i should take them. haven't been driving for long and obey all the rules.dh said i wouldn't get any as im so careful and thinks its a good idea. apparently "everyone does it".

well im not, frosty silence in car.

have to say i have always thought it bad that you could pass at 17 and thrn drive to 70 without ever having a retest/do a course

Blondeshavemorefun I have 12 points

I don't consider myself a "bad" driver, though I'm sure the points speak for themselves.

My first 3 points was going through an Amber Light, yes I did say Amber. It changed to Red whilst I was in the "middle" for less than 1 second.I had a driver right up my Arse close,I was always taught not to stop abruptly, and it was Amber,so I feel that was unfair.

I've had 2 sets of 3 points for "speeding" going 43 mph in a 30 mph,no excuse for that, and using my mobile, but i wasn't on a main rd,and pulled over as I was answering it.The Policeman walked over to my stationary car.

When your last points take you to 12 you have to go to Court and plead your case to the Magistrate,if you are lucky they sometimes consider certain circumstances.

I've never seen my mother drive so carefully as when she was on nine points. Quite entertaining. I tried to restrain myself from pointing it out to her on every journey...

And my father earnt himself a six month ban, apparently most unfair as ALL the points had been clocked up at 3am on a motorway with no other traffic.

thumbwitch · 13/11/2008 22:12

YANBU at all ,the friend is a total arse and so is your DH for going along with the suggestion.
He should learn to be a man and take his responsibility - and learn to drive while he is at it!

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/11/2008 22:26

i dont think it is fair that some people get to keep their license at 12 points and some lose it

agree your 3 points for amber was unfair

i got 3 points for doing 81 on motorway

Don't take the points. You could end up in jail or certainly a criminal record.

If your husband drives badly then he has to take the punishment. I'm sorry there is no excuse for getting points. The points system is to get unsafe drivers off the road. Your child or another inoccent bystander could be killed by excessive speed.

you do the crime and you take the time..

end of.
