To want to nuke the night garden

I'm sorry, but i just can't take any more fecking iggle piggle and tombliboos and their mind destroying gobledegook. I only have to hear their out of tune piano playing in the background and i want to reach for the brandy!! It is utter utter shite!

I actually started a thread when it came out singing its praises but now i just loathe it, and my DD doesn't like it either. So, please mr BBC can we have it removed from the bedtime slot where i like to chill out with my DD and not have to listen to some sort of frantic jazz type music (you know, the sort with no melody/rhythm that makes my hair stand on end). Can't we just have an hour of charlie and lola instead - i heart charlie and lola.

Not only that, if you want to buy your child a scooter/bike/lunchbox/pjs/well, anything really - chances are it will have that blue little runt on it somewhere

We call it Toddler Drugs in this house...my DS1 goes into a trance when he watches it. I can't stand the simpering voiceover and moronic characters personally and try to avoid at all costs... not easy when he has such an impressive command of the on/off button tho

Bring on Peppa Pig

Talia22 · 11/11/2008 21:16

I love the opening, there's something magic about it.

pinata · 11/11/2008 21:42

ITNG is the only thing that makes my very wriggly DD sit still on my lap for 10 mins of an evening - please don't nuke it!

ok, maybe those freakish out of tune bird things, and the honking toucan can go

Twinklemegan · 11/11/2008 21:49

The only bit I like is the end with Iggle Piggle floating off in his boat. That's quite sweet I think. But it is so darned repetitive!

cheesesarnie · 11/11/2008 21:53

put some music on.yabu.

when they moved max and ruby on nick jnr i was so upset-how was i going to chill dd and ds1 after bath/before bed?they got over it quicker than i did

citronella · 11/11/2008 21:56

YABU - It's lovely.

arcticlemming · 11/11/2008 22:01

YANBU. Macca Pacca reminds me of some disgusting larval stage of a horrible tropical parasite. However DD1 loves it.

I am at a loss as to the "Night Gardens@" meaning, its a bit "Magic Roundabout".Saying that both DS 4 AND DD 2 (sn) love it.I quite like the music, which is calming. It is quite repetitive and I think small children like the stability of repetition, and it has nice calming pictures of trees and birds and so on.Other than that it is bonkers!!

PavlovtheCat · 11/11/2008 22:11

Funny DH was saying just this very thing (he did not use the term NUKE, but something similar which slips my mind right now) this evening.

Stefka · 11/11/2008 22:13

I hate those birds. I also don't like that creepy Makka Packa with his weird soap.

Habbibu · 11/11/2008 22:20

MadElmleaLady - if your plan works and Charlie and flamin' Lola take over the airwaves I shall hunt you down and douse you in yoghurt.

PavlovtheCat · 11/11/2008 22:23

I heart charlie and lola. So does DD. It has taken over her ITNG obsession.

She only likes ITNG now because she has an upsy daisy dressing up outfit. When she is not wearing it, she could not give two hoots about it.

Charlie and Lola (or Charlola as she calls it) - that is different. She actually told me she needed a poo this evening to get out of the bath....then scooted into the front room to watch Charlie and Lola! I am not sure I approve of this, being that it would be her first lie, but still...proves her heart of Charlie and lola too....

i hate charlie and lola and their ridiculous english
at least in the night garden isn't anything like the english language

Ripeberry · 11/11/2008 22:47

We, the kids and i, started off loving it, then gradualy the programme got more and more anoying, so much so as my 3yr old tells me to turn it off and the 6yr old goes and hides.
My missiles are ready to launch!

pudding25 · 11/11/2008 23:19

I hate Charlie and Lola.

I really want the Upsy Daisy dressing up outfit for DD -but she's only 6mths .

I wish they had one in adult size and I could wear it every day.

pudding25 · 11/11/2008 23:20

I also love Makka Pakka's dance. Lovely bum movments.

Fllightthebluetouchpaper · 12/11/2008 06:26

Makka Pakka is just a giant tit, though, isn't he?

my Dad wants to give ds2 something related for Christmas.

I managed to find a half price 'Makka Pakka Stakka' in Sainsburys, made of wood. My God, the marketing potential in that little guy's name.

sparkle12mar08 · 12/11/2008 11:12

On one level ITNG is great for the kids, but I'm sure there's a sociology thesis in there somewhere for the adults. Let's see - Upsy Daisy is the town strumpet, jumping into bed with Iggle at every opportunity. Makka Pakka's stone fetish and cleanliness OCD clearly affect his daily life. The Pontipines ought to be reported to social services for evidence of sustained child neglect - losing your children once happens to the best of us, but every episode?! And as for the Tombliboos...

pudding25 · 12/11/2008 13:19

Maybe that's why I like Upsy Daisy so much-I can relate to her in a former life

What about the Wottifers? Not too keen on them. They are Pontipine wannabees.

I want a Makka Pakka Stakka.
