To hate the term ' WE are pregnant' ?

It goes through me, a lot.

More so, much more so, when it is the father-to-be saying it.

Since when have men been capable of growing a baby inside them?

Oh yes me too. It makes me grind me teeth and tear my hair. YANBU.

BitOfBarackyFun · 06/11/2008 14:44

yanbu, let them say we when they have the piles and can't drink...

noonki · 06/11/2008 14:44

YANBU unless you are a lesbian couple and you both are pregnant at the same time (as friends of mine were) only ONE of you is pregnant.

It is on parr with 'oh yes we've done India/Paris etc'

done what with it, I always think.

wahwah · 06/11/2008 14:45

I fucking hate it (sorry to my sister if she's reading this).

complicated · 06/11/2008 14:47

I hate it too, its bloody stupid.

Nagapie · 06/11/2008 14:50

Hate it - it is just so smug..

Look what we made ...

skidaddleMcCainHereComesOBAMA · 06/11/2008 14:50

oh it's awful but I have heard my own DH say it on occasion although he also thinks it's awful. I think it's in the same category as parents who call each other mummy and daddy . In fact my FIL calls me mammy - sends a shiver down my spine (not in a good way)

feelingbitbetter · 06/11/2008 14:51

YANBU. Makes me want to vom.

wehaveallbeenthere · 06/11/2008 14:51

Since the "father to be" is saying it...pen a contract about feeding times, diaper changes and doctor visits. Obviously since "WE" are pregnant then "WE" can do everything else as well.
YANBU

Lovesdogsandcats · 06/11/2008 14:53

oh god noonki I agree with you on the 'we've done'.

OP posts:
TheProvincialLady · 06/11/2008 14:53

I have noticed that afterwards the male partner never says "We have piles".

Lovesdogsandcats · 06/11/2008 14:53

Yes! Sooo 'we' will be getting up 10 times a night then no?

OP posts:
PuzzleRocks · 06/11/2008 14:55

Yuck, YANBU, makes my teeth itch when I hear it said.

AMumInScotland · 06/11/2008 15:00

YANBU "we" may be "expecting", but we are not "pregnant"

grumblingirl · 06/11/2008 15:00

I HATE it. My MIL took it one step further and said my partners name e.g Johns pregnant, to his brother. Grrr.

FattipuffsandThinnifers · 06/11/2008 15:02

I hate it too.

We do call each other Mummy and Daddy in front of our daughter since she started calling us by our first names. It feels uncomfortable to call each other Mummy and Daddy but we must.

AMumInScotland · 06/11/2008 15:13

You don't have to - unless you're saying "give it to Daddy" etc, then she will cope with knowing that you are also "Fred" and "Ginger" or whatever...

expatinscotland · 06/11/2008 15:15
