Although this is mostly because i have the advert playing on a permanent loop since it was on the telly this morning.

I have always had a dislike for these over priced, over poncey, over decorated shoes. They are pretty yes, but they look like dressing up shoes to be honest.

But OMG have you seen their latest offerings, shiney pink boxer boots, they are truly truly awful - my only real problem with the glitter plimsoles was the price, but these are truly awful, they look cheap and tacky and i cannot believe that anyone will buy them. Oh, but they will because the kiddies will just have to have the free watch that comes with lip gloss - what age are these shoes aimed at??? I mean, do we really want to turn our girls in to shallow, brain dead glamour queens before their hormones even have a chance to kick in.

grrrr

I mean the loop playing in my head!

No your not. The boots look hideous. Cannot believe how much they cost. I have already told my 5 year old daughter she will never own a pair of lelei kelly shoes (to be fair she has never asked for a pair even though several friends have them) Yuk!

I hate them too.
Such a waste of money IMHO

nickytwoooohtimes · 23/10/2008 10:37

They are indeed truly hideous.

KatieDD · 23/10/2008 10:53

The sandals and summer shoes are very pretty and tbh little girls have always wanted to dress up since time began so it's nothing new.
If you think they are overpriced don't buy them, 2 out of my three girls love them and they are NOT shallow, brain dead glamour queens thank you very much so keep your sneering to yourself.

My dd's friend (aged 10!) has the sequinned pump things. Now they look hideous in the wee sizes imagine what these things look like in a size 4.

Even dd was agog and said to me, did you see x's shoes?

bamboostalks · 23/10/2008 10:57

I would never buy a small girl shoes that come with lipstick, that is an appalling message and deserves a major sneer!!!!

These are similar to dd's friend's but the friend's are more sparkling and sequinned.

WhereWolfTheWildThingsWere · 23/10/2008 11:05

They are foul, overpriced, overjeweled, hideous tat, I would rather dd went barefoot, then ever insert one of her precious feet into that shit.

WhereWolfTheWildThingsWere · 23/10/2008 11:05

I don't like them btw.

bozza · 23/10/2008 11:12

DD has a pair. They are handmedowns because no way would I have forked out for a new pair. Just like doodles with sequins on really.

Oh and, OP, you could avoid the issue my not watching children's TV with adverts - I have never seen the advert and I am not aware that DD has.

pinkblossom · 23/10/2008 11:15

I love the summer shoes and so do DDs but I agree the boots are hideous.

Miggsie · 23/10/2008 11:17

DD once pointed them out when we were in a shop and I said "over my dead body" which made the saleswoman smile.
Next shoe trip DH took DD and returned home and apparently on the bus coming home DD had said "if you have bought lelli kellis mum will go mad and throw them in the bin" so DH runs in in a complete pother saying "oh God, have I bought lelli kellies by accident?!!!!"
I had to explain to him that you can't buy them by accident as they are so mank.
I opened the shoe bag to find a sober pair of black Start Rites and a pair of Navy Start Rites.
I then told DH what Lelli Kellies were like and he said "Christ, no, I wouldn't buy that sort of thing."

WorzselMummage · 23/10/2008 11:36

they are vile but i have to say Clarks winter offerings are almost as bad this year

where are you stewie? Clarks have been drawn into the whole pink thing too. I must admit to DD having a pretty hideous pair of pink light up trainers with a cat on the side, but they come no=where near lelli kellies on the mingometer. Would love a pair of pretty, PLAIN shoes for DD. We had a startrite pair that we bought in the sale (£15) and they looked really sweet - proper little girl shoes. I really hate it when little girls are encouraged to dress up like a grown up, well, tart!

I totally agree that little girls love to dress up and look pretty and i actually paint DDs nails for her. But some of the clothes are wholy inappropriate for children. I am quite happy for a 16 year old to dress in that way but not my three year old thankyou very much. And im sorry to say that i do judge when i see children dressed like this, as i think most do, if we were but to admit it.

KatieDD · 23/10/2008 17:00

Which part of a pair of pink mary jane shoes in in appropriate ? Am being serious, because I think they are sweet pretty shoes, they tend to be worn with a summer boden dress, hardly something you'd talk a 16 year old into wearing is it ?
Nobody will buy the boxer boots cos they do look stoopid.

PsychoAxeMurdererMum · 23/10/2008 17:04

standing firmly on the side of hating them.

in fact, the ad comes on TV, I turn over or off......hate hate hate it with a passion unknown for me, and doubly hate the shoes, and can only thank whatever higher power out there that my girls were passed the age/need/want of them when they came out.

Sycamoretree · 23/10/2008 17:06

I'm on the other LK thread....

Spooky that two MN'etters have got so riled by them today.

Christmas must be coming...

LittleMyDancingWithTheDevil · 23/10/2008 17:14

I hate them. Thank goodness I only have a DS (so far.....)

I saw a mum buying the shiny pink trainer things for her DD when I was buying DS' boots the other day.

They didn't have them in her size so they had to get one or two sizes up - poor girl was flopping around the shop tripping up in shoes that were miles too big for her, but it's ok because they're pink and shiny, right?

fgs. surely well fitting shoes is more important than shininess.

(ok, I've bought many things in the past because they were shiny, but in my defence, none of them were pink, and none of them could cause bits of me not to develop properly)
